🌈 Welcome Back to Potten End Pre-School! 🌈
We hope all our families have had a wonderful summer! ☀️💚

We are so excited to welcome our little ones back to Pre-School and can’t wait to hear all about their summer adventures. We’re also really looking forward to welcoming our new little ones and their families into the Potten End Pre-School family. 🥰

🌟 Our theme this week is: Children’s Choice & Settling Back In 🌟

This week is all about giving the children time to settle, reconnect with their friends and explore their favourite areas of Pre-School. We’ll be re-establishing our familiar routines, helping our new children learn them and talking together about our summer holidays.

🎒 A little reminder for parents:

Please make sure your child comes to Pre-School with everything they need to comfortably enjoy and access all areas of our provision, including outdoor and messy play. Please see the attached list for everything they will need.

🚧 PARENT NOTICE – HEMPSTEAD LANE 🚧

Please be aware that Hempstead Lane is currently closed to through traffic. It is only a small section, just after No. 72 through to the lay-by, but there is no vehicle access through this section. Pedestrian access remains available. The closure is expected to remain in place until at least November, so please allow a little extra time for your journey to and from Pre-School.

We can’t wait to open our doors and see all those little smiling faces again!

After 17 incredible years, it's time to say goodbye to our wonderful Beth.

Beth has been at the heart of Potten End Preschool, giving generations of children the love, care and guidance they needed to flourish. As our Room Leader, she has supported not only the children but also families and colleagues with kindness, patience and an unwavering commitment to giving every child the very best start.

Behind the scenes, Beth has quietly worked her magic, organising so many special memories—from teddy bear hunts and Easter egg hunts to fantastic party days and celebrations that have brought smiles to so many little faces.

It is impossible to put into words just how much you will be missed. Thank you for giving your absolute everything to our Preschool.

We wish you every happiness and success in your new role. They are incredibly lucky to have you—we certainly know how lucky we've been. Although we're sad to see you go, we'll always be grateful for everything you've done and will always think of you as part of the Potten End Preschool family.

Childrens choice and The upper pre school afternoon tea ✨️🫖🧁🥪👟🎸

Another week of being inventive in keeping the children cool, they have all been so good and seem to be getting used to our hot weather routines ☀️

This week the children chose most of the activities and the art we have done and they had some great and fun ideas.
On Thursday afternoon we had an amazing afternoon tea for the Upper pre school children and their parents. The children made delicious scones and sandwiches for everyone to enjoy. And then we were treated to an amazing performance from the children of one of their favourite books 'Pete the Cat'. A truely wonderful afternoon celebrating their journey and time at time at PEPS! 🤗

Ways we can Travel✈️🚢🚀🚗🚂🚲

This week our focus has been ways we travel and transport, linking it to our previous topic of summer and our holidays. We have had lots of fun playing with different types of transport in our small world area and tuff tray, constructing roads, tracks and cities to travel along and too. We have also been exploring floating and sinking, with the boats, rocks, corks and figures in the water and tuff tray,

Its been lovely to be able to play outside again and for the children to zoom around on the bikes, scooters and cars and to create different vehicles with the crates and tyres.

Next week will be a childrens choice week, so they can play with their favourite toys as the year draws to a close.

Don't forget its our Summer Fair on Sunday between 2-4 pm and we would love for you to join us! Come along and have some fun and support our wonderful little Pre school and Nursery!✨️

Summer fun!☀️

Well summer has definetley arrived this week! It has been a very hot week and we thank you for your support with helping us keeping the children safe, cool and happy.

The children have loved getting out early in to our paddling pool in small groups, we have done alot of experimenting with what we can do with water, encouraging rich language talking about more /less, empty/full and quantities. Using our physical skills to control our pouring and tipping trying not to get things to overflow, squirting water and questioning why things float and sink. And of course having lots of fun keeping cool!
Inside we have been building great sandcastles, make paper planes, talkimg about travelling on our holidays and making ice creams in our Beach cafè.

Next week we will be continuing this theme and also carrying on supporting the children with being school/ Nursery ready but hopefully it wont be so hot for us all.

Week 3 of People who help us- Dentists and Hairdressers🪥✂️

This week Lyndsey the dental nurse came in to visit us, she brought in her big toothbrush and her huge model of a mouth, talking to the children about good routines when brushing their teeth, how to brush them and what food and drink is healthy for their teeth and what should be a treat. The children could come up to Lyndsey and she looked in their mouths with a mirror. The children had toothpastes and a brushing chart to take home.

The children have also had lots of fun creating crazy hair styles for the adults in our hairdressers set up in the home corner!. They have also been working on their scissor skills cutting paper into hairstyles too.

Next week our new focus will be talking about Summer time.☀️

People who help us week 2👮‍♀️👷👨‍🚒🚦🚨

This week at preschool we have continued learning about people who help us, especially focusing on road safety. Sharon our Lollipop lady came in for a visit and showed us how she safely stops the traffic so we can cross, the children had great fun dressing up and having a go with the mini lollipop and we made a Leo the lollipop man to go up on the wall. We have also done lots of art and imaginary play about fire fighters, police officers and construction workers this week! The children learnt new songs 'Londons burning' and '5 Little fire fighters'.
Next week we will be continuing learning about people who help us, focusing on Dentists and hair dressers.

People who help us- week 1

At Pre school this week the children have made wonderful doctors and vets in our role play area, we have been wrapped up in bandages, had our tempertures taken and given injections and medicine.
On the tuff tray the children have been bricklayers, scientists making 'magical medicine' and have been painters and decoraters.
Outside the children dressed up as police officers, chasing around on scooters and catching each other and going to jail.
We were very kindly given some new magnetic tile construction which the children loved using their imagination to create wonderful structures.

Next week we will be focusing on police, firefighters and will have a visit from our lovely lollipop lady.

Minibeasts week 2🐝🐞🦋🐛🐸🐌🕷

This week have had a lovely time building a bug hotel and finding bugs and looking at them up close and noticing their features.
We have put the bug hotel up in our garden and hope it will attract lots of crèepy crawlies and give them somewhere nice to shelter and possibly hibernate in the winter.
The art and crafts have been great ,we have made bee bracelets, talked about spots and stripes and the patterns the bugs have. Doing potato and carrot printing to create bees, ladybirds and butterflies. Paper chain caterpillars and beautiful dragonflies.
We have also been creative with shapes making pictures out of them and learning and recalling what the shapes are called.

When we come back after the halfterm we will have a new topic of people who help us and we should hopefully have a dentist, a lollipop lady and police officers coming in to visit us over the coming weeks.

Have wonderful halfterm and we will see you when we all come back for 2nd half of the summer term.🤗
