Happy Days Pre-school

This week we’re going pumpkin mad at Happy Days! 🎃

The children will be getting hands-on as they prepare vegetables for pumpkin soup, explore pumpkin printing using apples, and create colourful stained-glass pumpkin pictures to brighten our windows.

We’ll also be practising our coordination with a pumpkin and golf-tee activity, while our home corner becomes a pumpkin patch for lots of imaginative play.

We can’t wait to see the children’s creativity, curiosity and confidence grow as we explore all things pumpkin! 🍂

We are continuing our autumn theme this week, and our focus is all about woodland animals! 🦊🦔🦉🐿️

The children will be learning about some of the animals that live in our woodlands, exploring where they live and what their habitats look like, as well as talking about how we can care for and protect our wildlife.

We’ll also be learning about wildlife hospitals and how poorly or injured animals, such as hedgehogs, can be cared for and helped to get better. 🏥🦔

Throughout the week we will be getting creative with some lovely woodland-themed activities, including:

🍂 Clay hedgehog making – using clay to create our own little hedgehogs.

🌳 Woodland Hunt at Forest School – exploring our outdoor environment and looking for signs of woodland wildlife.

🦔 Woodland animal activities – learning about different animals, their habitats, what they eat and how they survive.

We’ll be encouraging the children to develop their curiosity, communication, understanding of the natural world and care for living things, while having lots of fun exploring our woodland theme! 🍁

We can’t wait to see what woodland discoveries we make this week! 🐾

This week we are focusing on harvest and autumn foods. We will be talking about how plants grow and where food comes from. The children will be digging up root vegetables and practising their fine motor skills washing them and having a go at peeling them. We will also have a farm shop in the role play area and be creating artwork with some of the autumn treasures we have collected from forest school.

This week we have been on our first visit to forest school. We have been talking about how to stay safe and learning our forest school rules.
We talked about the changes we are beginning to notice as autumn begins and collected some autumn treasures. We will be doing some leaf printing with some of the leaves we collected.

This week we shall be talking about school transition… the names of our new schools, teachers and making new friends! We will also talk about Happy Days for the children staying ❤️ We will be making our own backpacks, sticking stationary onto school bags, sticker fun, colouring in bookmarks, making pencil decorations and doing ‘little people’ sticking of ourselves wearing our school tops! There will be a ‘sensory’ box where we try and guess the school items inside! We will read stories about starting school and play school themed games!!!

It’s also the Happy Days picnic on Tuesday so a really fun week lies ahead! 😀

This week we are talking about fruit and vegetables. 🍏🍎🍓🍋🍒🥑🥦
We will be making fruit faces and painting with vegetables.

We will also be doing lots of outside play on the climbing frame, balance beams, bikes and scooters and water play.

We had lots of fun ice painting today!

We had a lovely delivery from a parent today of some herbs from their garden. We mixed them in the water tray for some cooling sensory play on this hot day!
