I’ve just released a new bass lesson on YouTube that I want to share with you.
It’s called “Groove First – 10‑Minute Bass Timing Workout For Better Time” and it’s a complete daily routine you can use to tighten up your time - especially if you’re somewhere between beginner and intermediate and want to feel more solid with a band or backing track.
In the lesson we:
• Start with a simple, musical groove
• Work with the metronome on all four beats so you lock in comfortably
•Gradually remove beats from the click (1 & 3, then 2 & 4) so your internal time gets stronger
•Practise locking in with a drum beat
•Put it all together into a 10‑minute practice you can repeat every day
It’s not about fancy licks - it’s about feeling rock‑solid, relaxed and in control of the groove. If you’ve ever felt like you rush, drag, or lose where “1” is, this is for you.
You can download a free copy of the drum loop and PDF from the lesson by clicking the link in the video description.
Enjoy!
