Collytown Therapy Ponies

Collytown Therapy Ponies Therapeutic encounters using special ponies. Due to their small size the ponies are able to go into hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, schools and nurseries.

Benefits for all ages, especially the elderly or those with poor mobility, learning difficulties or anxiety.
🐴 Therapeutic Sessions
🐴 Visits to Homes, schools & preschools
🐴 Training Both adults and children for so many reasons can benefit
from an interaction with our very special ponies

Animals are known to offer major therapeutic benefits to people of all ages but especially for those with poor

mobility, co-ordination, partially sighted or who suffer from depression, anxiety or have learning difficulties. Horses being intuitive animals are able to read and respond to the emotions of the people around them, the opportunity to touch, stoke or just be in their presence can evoke a truly positive response. Horses are not confrontational by nature, our ponies have very kind & gentle temperaments making them ideal for older people or those with autism or challenging behaviour, we have witnessed even the most withdrawn open up and let the barriers down when with the ponies. Our Ponies Provide:
* Sensory Touch
* Social Interaction
* A non-judgemental Encounter
* Happy Association in Familiar Surroundings
* Reminiscence - Especially for older generation

The benefits of interactions with therapy animals are now being recognised by growing numbers of specialists. Unique in that, not only do we welcome individuals or groups to our approved facilities, our ponies travel to wherever they are needed most. They are fully trained and accustomed to working around specialist equipment using lifts to gain access to anyone that would otherwise miss out. For individual cases, our ponies can be teamed with Occupational, Speech or Physical therapists to set specific programs or goals, this can be as simple as inspiring a patient to reach out an arm or to walk with patients learning to use new equipment. Each encounter is tailored to the needs of the individuals, so everyone can benefit. We treat all we meet with kindness, care, compassion, dignity and respect. We are also available for School, Pre school and nursery visits. The ponies have also been used for Birthday surprize visits, Christmas Nativities, Santa's Grottos and school fates!

While the schools are off on Summer holidays, we give all our ponies & animals a well earned rest!
So no out visits, no sessions and no training, they are just allowed to graze, hang out with their friends, chill and just be horses, which is so important for them.
For us there is still much being done to take care of them all and gearing ourselves up for what is looking like being a super busy September!

Through our work, I know how important it is for children to feel seen, understood, and valued. ❤️

This beautiful book by a local author explores resilience, self-belief, and finding your own quiet strength.
A story that many children, and the adults who care for them will relate to.

Please consider supporting a local author by purchasing this wonderful book.

The Boy Who Wouldn’t Break
Written by Steve Lilley

The Boy Who Wouldn’t Break is a warm, emotionally powerful story about:
Resilience and quiet courage
Bullying and emotional safety
Neurodiversity, self-belief, and growth
Learning that strength can be calm, kind, and unmovable

Written for children aged 8–12, this book is especially meaningful for:
Children who feel different or left out
Parents looking for stories that build confidence without preaching
Teachers and schools seeking gentle, discussion-ready books
This is a story that children recognise themselves in — and one adults wish they had read when they were young.

If you’ve ever known a child who tries hard, feels deeply, or believes they don’t quite fit…

This book is for them.
