How to get to Growers Row in the month of September!

In September, we transition from using the Summer Path (via the bypass) to Winter Access (through Rutland Showground). Note that from October to May 2027, we have access via Gate 1, Rutland Showground.

We had a lovely day at Growers Row harvesting beans, tomatoes, more sweetcorn and threading up garlic. Everyone went home with a bag of delicious tomatoes and other freshly picked treats.

A group of us came up with a list of things we each love about this garden, and then we put it all together into a paragraph on the blackboard wall.

Thirsty plants and trees were watered, and beds that are now past it were cleared using the cut-and-drop method, which helps mulch, improve the soil, and lock in moisture.

A great day had by all!

Growers Row Shared Garden is open to all every Wednesday (10am - 3pm)

Our Repair Cafe event on Friday at the Uppingham Town Hall was very productive ! It ran alongside our usual Community Fridge so people even went home with food in their bags too !

We had 22 people, bringing in their items for our skilled repair team to try to fix . There was even a leather hippo arrive in a wheelbarrow !

18 items were fixed, advice was given so that some people can return with extra parts needed and some items had come to the end of their life .

What is interesting though is that people seem to be saving things at home until they know that they can take them to be fixed !

We are also having conversations about buying things that have the potential for repair !

We are also sharing knowledge, time and conversation between us all and that strengthens our community .

Thanks to everyone who repaired and brought things in to be repaired! Another great day!

Come and see us next time in Langham Village Hall on the 19th September.

The Rutland and Stamford Repair Cafe is held on the third weekend of each month, in Stamford, Uppingham and a Rutland venue.
