This is just one of the certificates you can earn on our Level 3 Forest School Practitioner course!

As part of the course, we spend plenty of time developing your fire-lighting skills, from understanding different natural tinders and fire lays to successfully managing an open fire. And, of course, we put those skills to very good use by cooking some rather splendid meals over the campfire!

As part of your practical skills assessment, you'll be challenged to light a fire and keep it going for at least 10 minutes.

But there’s an extra challenge…

If you can do it using ONLY natural materials and tinder that you've collected, you'll also earn our Natural Fire Lighting Award.

No cotton wool. No firelighters. No sneaky shortcuts. Just you, your skills and what nature provides. 🌿🔥

Looking for something a little different to do together as a family?

Join us for our Forest School Family Day and spend two hours immersed in our beautiful woodland, exploring, creating and making memories together.

This is your chance to experience first-hand why children absolutely love Forest School. Climb, build, create, discover, swing in the hammock, enjoy nature and let your children lead the adventure while you join in the fun.

Our sessions are completely child-led, meaning every family has a unique experience. Whether your child loves getting muddy, building dens, lighting fires, crafting, bug hunting or simply relaxing in a hammock, there’s something for everyone.

When: First Saturday of every month, 11:00am - 1:00pm
Where: Sunshine Forest School, Belper Community Hall Woodland

Come and unplug from the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature, and enjoy quality time together in a magical woodland setting.
