For some pupils who have always found learning hard, finding those small moments for a win are so important!
From his point of view, he was being silly and having a laugh!
From my point of view, he was using inference, practising spellings and handwriting, being introduced to more advanced punctuation and using his creativity and imagination to add detail and interest to a simple text.
But don't tell him!

Learning about contractions isn't just about punctuation—it's a brilliant way to boost spelling confidence too.

When children understand that don't comes from do not or they've comes from they have, they begin to see how words are built. This helps them spell more accurately, recognise common word patterns, and become more confident readers and writers.
