Well done to our Year 11 Geographers who recently completed their river fieldwork in Colin Glen. ๐๏ธ
Despite wet feet and muddy boots, students successfully applied their geographical skills to investigate how the river changes downstream, collecting and analysing data with enthusiasm.
A fantastic effort and some great fieldwork memories made! ๐ช๐

Staff Success: Dr Houston ๐
We are delighted to celebrate an incredible achievement by our very own Dr Houston, who recently claimed 1st place in the Masters 50โ54 category at the European Powerlifting Championships in Limerick, Ireland.
Dr Houston recorded an outstanding 600kg total, consisting of:
๐๏ธ 200kg Squat
๐๏ธ 160kg Bench Press
๐๏ธ 240kg Deadlift
Not only did this performance earn him the European title, but it also set a new national record for his age category.
Beyond his own sporting success, Dr Houston generously volunteers his time each week to support our students through the collegeโs Strength and Conditioning extra-curricular club. ๐ช
Sharing his knowledge, experience and expertise with our senior students after school, he plays an important role in helping them develop their strength, fitness and understanding of training principles.
Well done, sir. ๐

Today, our Year 11 GCSE PE students took part in a fantastic workshop delivered by , exploring barriers to participation in sport.
At OLSPCK, we are proud to promote equity, diversity and inclusion and hope our students leave with a greater understanding of the challenges some individuals may face and recognise the importance of kindness, respect, empathy and support for others.
Experiences like these help our young people make a positive contribution to their communities.
Thank you to for an engaging and inspiring session and Ms Black for organising the event.

๐คฉ A Busy and Successful Week of Sport at the Knock! ๐ฅ
This week saw another fantastic range of sporting opportunities for our students.
๐ Several Year 9 and Year 10 pupils proudly represented the College at our first-ever Schools GAA Handball Tournament. Both our boysโ and girlsโ teams performed brilliantly, reaching the semi-finals. A huge thank you to Mr Armstrong for accompanying and supporting the group throughout the competition.
๐พ We also celebrate the continued success of our tennis programme as Mr Shields continues to drive tennis forward within the College. Our junior girls delivered some excellent performances and represented the school superbly.
๐ Our Year 8 hurlers enjoyed taking part in the Ulster Schools Hurling Blitz at Lecale College, Downpatrick. Well done to all the boys involved, especially the four students who played their very first hurling matches! Thank you to Mr Kane and Mr McLornan for leading the group and providing this valuable experience.
๐ On Friday afternoon, students also had the opportunity to take part in a hockey taster session after school, led by Miss Deery and Miss McGrath. It was fantastic to see so many students getting involved and trying something new.
At the College, we continue to seek out opportunities to develop our sporting provision and provide students with a wide range of experiences. There truly are so many opportunities to suit our studentsโ passions and interests. This is made possible through the enthusiasm and dedication of not only our PE staff, but also our non-PE teaching staff who share a passion for sport and for helping our students excel in physical activity.
A sincere thank you to everyone involved in making these opportunities possible.
