3 words: Experience, Flexibility & ... Fun! EXPERIENCE
I’m a native CELTA- & DELTA-qualified teacher, and have been training people to speak English for 20 years in Spain (12 years), Japan (3 years) France, Italy, Japan and the UK. I’ve been lucky to train professionals in every sector imaginable — including leaders of the European Uni

Every language has it's difficulties. In English, pronunciation has to be at the top of the list! It's true —it's hard— with it's 12 vowel sounds (or 20 sounds if you count the gliding vowels). That compares to just 5 pure vowel sounds in Spanish or Italian for example... but... I've just learnt from this guy that Cambodian has 30 vowel sounds. Wow, 30! That's tough! If I'm a parrot in my next life, I might give it a try! 🐦

Do you have time for a bit of reading/listening practice?
This is a fascinating article about a native English speaker who lost her ability to speak English... but could speak German! There's a link in the article for a 20 minute podcast about it too. Good luck!

I woke up unable to speak English Hannah Jenkins survived a cycling accident - but woke up no longer being able to understand English.

This came up in class last week. Another way to say something similar is "hardly ever". E.g. I hardly ever have time to make Facebook new slides these days (a true story!!!). Anyway, everyone try to use this in class if you get a chance! 😊

One word in English can have lots of meanings...I'm sure you've noticed and it drives you crazy!!! Here's a good example... can you understand the double meaning of "concentrate" in this card that I got recently? 😂

Wow! I'm speechless. How things have changed in a relatively short period of time! If you're like Toni and think learning is a dangerous thing, don't get in touch. If you disagree with her, I look forward to hearing from you! 😂

Interesting video about the benefits of speaking another language for your brain health. Quite difficult listening, but if you're upper-intermediate (B2) or above, why not "kill 2 birds with one stone" — learn something new while getting a bit of extra listening practice! 🙂

Even if football isn't usually your *cup of tea*, for many, the World Cup is just a bit special!
I've been loving it! There have been some *breathtaking* goals and *nail-biting* matches... and great to see some of the *underdogs* doing such a great job! ⚽⚽ ⚽
Some words!...
*It's not my cup of tea* = it's not a thing that I like
*breathtaking* = very exciting, thrilling, amazing, beautiful
*nail-biting* = adjective for something that causes anxiousness (it makes sense; some people bite their nails when anxious!)
*underdog* = person or team that is expected to lose
