WHEN WE LEARN, OUR PUPILS LEARN!

Learning never stops at St Colmcille’s!

This morning, our teaching staff came together for a fantastic Staff Development Day, with a clear focus — how can we continue to improve teaching and learning and give every pupil the best possible opportunity to succeed?

Our teachers spent time learning from one another, sharing ideas and exploring practical strategies that promote high-quality teaching and help our pupils develop effective methods for learning.

From classroom practice to strategies that build independence, confidence and successful learning habits, the morning was all about making a real difference to the experiences and outcomes of our young people.

A huge thank you to our Teaching and Learning Team for facilitating such an engaging and purposeful morning, and to all our staff for their enthusiasm, openness and commitment to continually improving their practice.

At St Colmcille’s, we believe that great teachers are great learners too.

💜💚🖤Learning never stops.

We were delighted to accept an invitation from Ulster Ladies Gaelic to offer our KS4 pupils the opportunity to complete the LGFA Go Games referee course, which enables our 21 students who completed the course to referee up to U12 both within school and with their clubs.

Thanks to Eunan for facilitating and leading the course today, the students were engaged throughout.

Not only have the students added another string to their bow, but the PE Department will be able to utilise them with our Year 8 teams and primary school links.

Good News For Everyone visited our school this morning to speak to the Yr8 pupils. The pupils learned that it took around 1400 years for the Bible to be written and there were around 40 different authors. Pupils were all gifted their own Red New Testament which they will use in their RE classes. Many thanks to Trevor and William for coming in today to see our wonderful Yr8.
