Campbell College

Last month, 108 cadets from Campbell College and Strathearn School attended Annual Camp at Magilligan Training Centre.

Organised by members of the 38 (Irish) Brigade Cadet Training Team, the camp featured a varied programme of activities, including a 24-hour field exercise, shooting, adventure training, first aid and leadership tasks.

The cadets demonstrated great commitment throughout the week, with more than 5,000 rounds fired on the ranges. An impressive 26 cadets achieved the Marksman qualification, while a further 17 qualified as Trained Shot.

Annual Camp provides an excellent opportunity for cadets to develop leadership, teamwork and practical skills while building confidence and resilience in a challenging environment. Well done to everyone who took part in another successful camp. Huge thanks to all the staff from Strathearn and Campbell who made it all possible!

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 on achieving Campbell College's best ever A Level and BTEC results.

Our 126 Year 14 students delivered an outstanding set of results, with 43% of all grades awarded at A*-A or Distinction level. Strong performances across arts, sciences and vocational subjects reflect the College's continued commitment to academic excellence and helping every boy fulfil his potential.

With 95% of students securing their first-choice destination, our leavers now move on to leading universities, prestigious international institutions and highly sought-after degree apprenticeships.

In June, pupils from Years 8-11 took part in our House Orienteering Competition, putting their fitness, navigation, and problem-solving skills to the test across the College’s 100-acre campus.

Each year group completed a 30-minute score course, aiming to locate as many of the 25 control points as possible within the allotted time.

Congratulations to Alden’s House, who emerged as overall winners, with outstanding performances from Ollie (Year 8, Yates’s), Edward (Year 9, Allison’s), Harry (Year 10, Alden’s) and Matthew (Year 11, Price’s).

Just before the end of term, our Junior Drama Society staged four sold-out performances of Macbeth. From the first rehearsal to the final performance, the pupils involved threw themselves into every aspect of this immersive promenade production. Their hard work, dedication and talent were evident throughout, and we could not be prouder of all they achieved. A huge well done to all pupils and staff involved!

Congratulations to Alfie Mulvenna, Alfie Po***ck, Brayden McNally, Conor Wilson, Jude Crawford and Lukas Doherty, who were recently recognised as graduates of the Irish FA JD National Residential Academy at Windsor Park.

In September 2024, the boys became the first Academy players to join Campbell College as pupils, embarking on a new chapter both academically and on the pitch. Over the past two years, they have balanced the demands of elite football with their studies, becoming valued members of both the College and boarding community along the way.

In addition to graduating from the Academy programme, all six boys received Northern Ireland Under-16 caps, while Alfie Mulvenna and Conor Wilson were also recognised with Under-17 caps.

Having now completed their GCSEs, they leave as the first Academy pupils to complete their Campbell journey, helping to establish a partnership that continues to provide opportunities for talented young footballers from across Northern Ireland.

We congratulate them on all they have achieved during their time at Campbell and thank them for the positive contribution they have made to College life. They will always be remembered as the first Academy pupils to call Campbell home, and we wish them every success for the future, both on and off the pitch.

Before the end of term, our Year 9 pupils took part in an engaging and interactive 'Futures Day', designed to encourage them to think about their future pathways and develop the skills needed for the world of work.

Throughout the day, pupils participated in a range of workshops, including a careers networking activity, a hands-on engineering challenge delivered by the W5 Outreach team, and sessions exploring future study and career options through Unifrog.

We were particularly grateful to our Career Ambassadors, many of whom were Old Campbellians, who shared their experiences across a wide range of professions including Architecture, Medicine, Law, Finance, Engineering, Digital Technologies, Communications, Politics and Public Services.

The day provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop their teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills while gaining an insight into the many pathways that lie ahead.

Some students have been part of Campbell since Year 8, while others join us for Sixth Form.

What they have in common is that they chose Campbell. They chose it because it offered the opportunities, challenge and sense of belonging they were looking for.
