Just over 4️⃣ weeks to go folks and we are in full swing over here in camp headquarters! 😄😎

🚧 The marquee (base camp for our YOLOers over the summer) will be going up in the coming weeks and, we are doing our annual top up of equipment for all the brilliant activities you guys will be taking part in.

📚 The YOLibrary is stocked (although we always welcome any book donations 😊) and our finger is poised to hit the 'order' button for our very popular Camp YOLO t-shirts!

We have had lots of queries from parents over the last number of weeks with regards to activities at Camp YOLO. We try to offer a varied mix of activities that caters to all children which are rotated over the course of the camp.

Our daily schedule follows a similar pattern to a school day which helps to keep the kids in a routine eg break times and lunchtime. Children remain in their age-groups for activities and then come together for breaks and lunch.

With a mix of sports, outdoor activities and pursuits (including planting and nature walks), arts & crafts, dance, talent shows or if you would prefer some time out and pick a book from our YOLibrary, we have you covered. Here are just some of the activities we offer:

What a cracker couple of days for a water fight! 🔫🔫🔫

Probably one of our most popular activities during summer - YOLOers love to get involved (probably because they get to soak the leaders! 😆)

Weather permitting, we usually have one of these at least once a week - it's a great way for the kids to cool down on particularly warm days whilst having the BEST fun!

Let's talk about t-shirts! 👕

Camp YOLO t-shirts play a hugely important part in camp during the summer. It's the only camp throughout the year that they are compulsory (although lots of our YOLOers like to wear them to every camp ☺️) and we have very good reasons for this....

Here's why:

🟣 sᴜᴍᴍᴇʀ ɪs ᴏᴜʀ ʙᴜsɪᴇsᴛ ᴄᴀᴍᴘ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ ʏᴇᴀʀ; t-shirts allow leaders to very quickly identify which group a child is part of, especially on particularly busy camp days or when we come together as a camp for certain activities.

🟣 ғᴏsᴛᴇʀs ᴛᴇᴀᴍ sᴘɪʀɪᴛ; t-shirts create an instant sense of belonging, building camaraderie and inclusivity among YOLOers; which is a hugely important part of a child's learning and development.

🟣 ᴡᴇ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴏᴜʀ ʏᴏʟᴏᴇʀs ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴀᴛ ᴄᴀᴍᴘ; building friendships and creating memories. Camp t-shirts play a pivotal role in crafting an inclusive, engaging and memorable camp experience.

T-shirts will be available to purchase every morning at sign-in.

Children are split into 3 age groups and are identified by different coloured t-shirts:

🟡 Mini-Meez (ages 4-6)
🟠 Trans4mers (ages 7-9)
🔴 Rockets (ages 10-12)
🟣 ALPs (ages 13-15)

Many of our returning YOLOers recycle their t-shirts, handing then down to younger siblings which we love to see! ☺️

Nothing makes us prouder than seeing some of our YOLOers out and about in their t-shirts; we've spotted more than a few all over Belfast and beyond!
