I always really appreciate when parents take the time to write a review about their child’s tutoring experience. I know how busy everyone is, so it genuinely means a lot when someone goes out of their way to share how things went over the year.
Reviews like these are also really helpful for parents who are thinking about tutoring in the future. Choosing the right support for your child is a big decision, and hearing honest feedback from families who have already been through the SEAG process can make that decision a lot easier.
So a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to leave a review — it really does make a difference.
This year’s groups have been fully booked since the start of the new cohort, largely thanks to word of mouth and the kind reviews parents have shared. If you’d still like to get in touch, I’m always happy to add names to the waiting list in case a space becomes available.
If you have a child currently in Primary 5, it’s a good idea to get in contact now. I’m already taking bookings for next year’s groups, so getting in touch early helps make sure your child secures a place.

Please find below my most recent set of results. I’m extremely proud of this group of children — every one of them worked hard throughout the year, kept going when it was difficult and showed real resilience as the pressure increased. SEAG is a long and demanding process and they handled it with maturity beyond their years. Now it’s important that they enjoy the rest of Primary 7 — the trips, the laughs and the memories that come with finishing primary school. A genuine well done as well to all the parents for the extra help, encouragement and support at home during what is an exhausting time. If any parents have questions around school criteria or school choices, I’m always happy to help.

🌟 Student Spotlight – Erin 🌟
Erin was an absolute joy to tutor. She was confident, very social, and a real presence in the group — always engaged and willing to have a go. In practice papers she was a high flyer, consistently scoring in the high 80s and showing just how strong her ability was.
On the day, Erin achieved a very strong result. While it didn’t quite meet the cut-off for her first choice of Aquinas, her score reflected the hard work she put in throughout the year. What really stood out was how prepared her family were. They had thought ahead, had a Plan B in place, and Erin accepted a place at St Dominic’s Grammar. I spoke to her mum recently and she told me Erin is absolutely loving school and is very happy where she is.
That’s an important reminder for parents as we approach results day. Hope is essential — but so is preparation. Having a Plan B (and even a Plan C) matters. Thinking about transport, travel time, family support and alternative schools early on can take a huge amount of pressure off both you and your child.
Wishing all of my pupils the very best this Saturday. Whatever the outcome, there are always options — and I’m always happy to chat things through with any parent who needs advice or reassurance

And that’s a wrap!🎁

It’s been a great group to work with this year — hard-working, good fun, and always up for a challenge. We’ve had plenty of laughs along the way too (and deep down I know they enjoyed my terrible jokes, even if they pretended otherwise). I’m genuinely proud of them. One last paper on Saturday and then they can finally switch off and enjoy Christmas!

And as one door closes, another opens… I’ve a few spaces left for the new January classes for P6s starting their own transfer journey. If you want any info, just send me a message.

AND RELAX (for a wee while anyway)

The last few days before SEAG are really just about keeping things steady. The hard work has been done over months, not this week, so try to keep the atmosphere calm and the pressure low. A bit of light revision is fine, but the main thing now is helping the children feel settled and confident going into Saturday. They’re ready — now it’s just about letting that show.

Student Spotlight – Tily
Tily was one of those pupils who made an impact from day one. She was bubbly, funny, and fitted into the group straight away, forming genuine friendships that lasted throughout the year. She enjoyed the social side of tutoring, but she also knew when to switch on. When we were going through strategies, she listened closely, took things in, and applied them with focus. That balance of enjoying the group environment while still giving the work proper attention served her incredibly well. She put in consistent effort, supported others, and became a real part of the group dynamic. All that hard work paid off with a Band 1 result, and she is now thriving in Rathmore. A brilliant outcome for a brilliant pupil. Well dome Tily!

Feeling the fatigue? You’re not alone.
At this stage of SEAG prep, it’s completely normal for motivation to dip. The children have been working hard since January — three tests a week, new papers, and high expectations. That’s a lot for anyone, never mind a 10-year-old.
The key now is balance.
Rest, routine, and reassurance make all the difference. A small wobble doesn’t erase months of progress — it’s part of the process. The goal isn’t perfection every week… it’s consistency, resilience, and finishing strong.
I always tell my classes: “You haven’t come this far just to come this far.”
Keep the focus, keep the perspective — and remember, I’m right beside them through this final push.

📆 If your child is sitting SEAG in 2026, now’s the time to get in touch.
One of my classes for next year is already fully booked, and the other is filling quickly.
Let’s get the foundations right early.

🌟 Student Spotlight – Piotr 🌟

Piotr has been a brilliant pupil to work with. Although English is not his first language, he showed incredible determination and focus throughout his preparation.

What really stood out was his natural enthusiasm — always bright, chatty, and eager to answer out during lessons. Despite the extra challenges of working in a second language, English actually became his strongest area in the test!

His commitment and work ethic were second to none, and all that effort paid off — Piotr achieved a Band 1 and is now attending St Mary’s Grammar School, his first-choice school. An outstanding result for a fantastic young man! 👏✨

📣 If you have a child sitting the SEAG test in 2026, now is the time to get in touch. Early preparation makes all the difference — spaces are already filling fast!

✨ Fractions Made Simple – SEAG Style! ✨
Fractions can be one of the toughest parts of the transfer test, but with clear strategies they don’t have to be overwhelming.

This carousel covers the 6 fraction skills your child needs for SEAG success: simplifying, comparing, adding, subtracting, converting between mixed & improper, and fractions of amounts. Plus a ⚡️ SEAG twist on each to show where pupils often slip up.

👉 Save this post so your child can practise each skill step by step.
👉 Remind them: accuracy is just as important as speed.

The real goal now is building confidence. Each small success helps children believe in themselves, and that belief is what carries them through the tougher questions.

Looking ahead — if your child is sitting in 2026, this is the stage where many parents start making plans. One of my groups is already fully booked, and the others are filling steadily, so if you’d like your child to have a place, now is the right time to get in touch. That way you’ll have peace of mind knowing their support is secured from the start.

📩 Message me if you’d like more details.

📚 More tips and breakdowns coming soon to keep boosting skills (and confidence!) for November.

🎯 One Mark at a Time 🎯

In the SEAG test, every question is worth the same mark.
That means the smart move is to collect as many “easy” marks as possible first, then circle back to the tricky ones.

📝 Why?
Spending 4 minutes stuck on one question could cost you several easier marks later in the paper.

📌 Key tips for better test technique:

Keep moving – don’t get bogged down

Mark the tricky ones and come back later

Check your time every 10–15 mins

Always leave a few minutes to review your answers

This is something I drill into my tutoring sessions – it’s not just about knowing the answers, it’s about knowing how to approach the test.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Ethan over the past year. From the beginning, he showed a strong work ethic and a real desire to push himself further. While already a capable student, Ethan consistently challenged himself and took every opportunity to grow.

What stood out most was how his confidence developed over time. He approached each session with focus and determination, and his commitment never wavered.

All that hard work paid off — Ethan achieved a Band 1 and secured a place at his first choice school, Methody. An outstanding result for a very deserving young person!

Well done, Ethan — I couldn’t be prouder of your journey! 👏🎉

Emily was an absolute joy to tutor in preparation for the SEAG. A determined and hardworking pupil, she approached every session with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Her great sense of humour and love of a good joke made our lessons both productive and fun. Emily listened carefully to feedback and consistently applied advice, resulting in steady, focused progress each week. Her efforts truly paid off when she peaked at exactly the right time, achieving a very high Band 1 score and earning a well-deserved place at Rathmore. Her success is a testament to her resilience, positivity, and strong work ethic. Well done Emily!
