About the journal

Policy & Practice: A Development Education Review has been the Centre for Global Education’s flagship publication since its launch in 2005. It has moved from a hard copy format to digital online publication with Issue 9 in Autumn 2009. It is published biannually, and aims to provide a space for practitioners to critically reflect on their practice and discuss the main challenges

Please find attached a report on a webinar organised by Centre for Global Education and Comhlámh on 27 May 2026 titled “Pedagogical Responses to the Meta Crisis: The Role of Development Education”. It debated the content of Issue 42 of the journal Policy & Practice: A Development Education Review. The seminar speakers were: Katie Chapple, Gertrude Cotter and Brighid Golden and the chair was Bernie Grummell. The seminar was organised as part of a three-year Global Citizenship Education project funded by Irish Aid. Nearly 1,000 new citations in books and journal have been generated by articles published in Policy and Practice: A Development Education Review over the past year. The updated citations database shows that Policy and Practice articles have generated 6,636 citations - an increase of 929 since April 2025 - that have appeared in 835 journals, 441 books, 503 dissertations and 134 NGO publications which are all listed in the database. This is great evidence of how the journal is supporting high level, multi-disciplinary research across the world. The database is available at:

Centre for Global Education and Comhlámh have organised a webinar on Wednesday, 27 May at 12.00pm to debate the content of Issue 42 of Policy & Practice: A Development Education Reviewon the theme "Pedagogical Responses to the Meta Crisis: The Role of Development Education". Three authors who published in Issue 42 will present their articles: Katie Chappell (Director, WorldWise Global Schools), Gertrude Cotter (Lecturer, UCC) and Brighid Golden (Lecturer, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick).
