💛Mental Health Week 💛

A busy week promoting positive mental health and wellbeing! Our Peer Ambassadors supported pupils in Form Classes, while our younger pupils enjoyed a cookie sale 🍪 and lunchtime games.

Lots of smiles, laughter and kindness all round! 😊

🔧⚙️ Learning in action!

Our boys have been busy in the Technology workshops, developing practical skills, using a range of tools and bringing their ideas to life. Great to see creativity, craftsmanship and confidence growing with every project. 👏

This week, our school community is marking World Mental Health Day with a focus on looking after our mental health and supporting those around us.

Throughout the week, pupils will explore a different mental health theme each day and take part in our Week Challenge, showing how small, positive actions can make a big difference. 🧠💛

⚽🔥 BOYS ‘ MODEL FOOTBALL – WEEKLY UPDATE 🔥⚽

🔵 Year 9Bs faced Glengormley in the EA Cup. A battling display saw us bow out of the competition as we lost 3-1 against a strong Glengormley side. Unfortunately, we’re out of the cup, but we have plenty of league games still to come.

🔴 Our Year 12 squad made it through to the EA Cup semi-finals with a good win over Edmund Rice. We will find out our opponents in a few weeks’ time. Next up, we face St Patrick’s Academy in the Irish Cup.

🔵 Our U18s made it two wins from two with a friendly victory over Glengormley. A few new faces and plenty of changes for the Model in this fixture. Next up, we face Blessed Trinity in the Irish Cup.

🔴 Our Year 10Bs made their first appearance of the season, overcoming Ulidia in a nine-goal thriller in the EA League, winning 5-4. Next up, we face Aquinas B in the Belfast Cup.

🔵 Our final fixture of a busy footballing week saw our Year 8Bs take to the field for the first time. We lost 4-3 to St Patrick’s Academy in the Belfast Cup. Overall, it was a great game, with the team finding themselves two goals behind in the first half. We did brilliantly to fight back and, in the final stages of the game at 4-3, created a few chances to level the game. Lots of positives to take moving forward!

⚽ A busy and exciting week of football with plenty of positives to build on! 😀👏🏻⚽

🎧🎶 DJing at BBMS!

Every Wednesday lunchtime, our Year 8 DJing club is led by pupils from Mrs Baird’s Enrichment class, who demonstrate fantastic leadership skills by teaching and mentoring younger pupils. They also take responsibility for setting up equipment, organising the register and tidying away afterwards.

It’s a great opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and inspire the next generation of DJs! 🎵👏

Interested in joining? Year 8 pupils who would like DJ lessons, or who already play an instrument, should speak to Mrs Baird or Mrs Brown. 🎧🎹

We were proud to visit Stormont alongside our valued community partners at streetbeatyp to present to members of the NI Assembly Education Committee and fellow educationalists.

The presentation highlighted how our strong partnership is helping young people thrive, delivering positive academic outcomes while supporting personal growth, confidence and wellbeing. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impact of creative collaboration and the success of the pupils we support together.

📣 PSNI Experience Day 📣

Last week some of our Year 14 pupils enjoyed a superb and informative PSNI Experience Day, gaining a valuable insight into the wide range of careers available within the Police Service.

The boys took part in engaging workshops on dog handling, first aid, crime scene investigation and road safety awareness, learning first-hand about the skills, teamwork and dedication required in policing and public service.

A fantastic opportunity to raise aspirations, explore future career pathways and gain real-world experience. Thank you to the PSNI for delivering such an enjoyable and inspiring day! 👮‍♂️🚔🐕
