Yesterday we celebrated the outstanding achievements of our Year 10 pupils and what a fantastic afternoon it was.

Our pupils continue to embody the core values of respect, commitment and integrity and this year’s award winners have truly gone above and beyond in their effort, attitude and personal growth. From academic excellence to resilience, creativity and contribution to school life, each award presented today reflects hard work, determination and a willingness to push for success. These pupils have shown what it means to be part of the Belfast Boys’ Model community and we could not be prouder of every single one of them.

A huge congratulations to all of our award recipients. You have set a brilliant example for your peers and demonstrated what can be achieved through dedication and a positive mindset.

We look forward to seeing you continue to grow and thrive as you move into Key Stage 4.
Well done, Year 10!

Last week, we were delighted to host the first industry-led workshop in our new Innovation Lab, welcoming Mrs Harmon and a group of pupils from Mercy College to take part in this exciting learning opportunity.

Representatives from SpiderRock, a Chicago-based IT firm with offices in Belfast City Centre, delivered an engaging workshop exploring the diverse range of careers available within the technology sector. Pupils gained valuable insight into the various educational and professional pathways that can lead to successful careers in the IT industry.

As part of the session, pupils participated in a hands-on computational thinking activity, which introduced many of them to coding through the Python programming language. This practical experience encouraged problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration while providing a meaningful introduction to software development.
It was particularly encouraging to see boys and girls from across our community working together to develop their digital skills and engage enthusiastically with the opportunities presented by the technology sector.

We would like to thank SpiderRock, Mrs Harmon, and all the pupils involved for contributing to the success of this memorable event. Well done to everyone who participated.

Last week a group of our Year 10 pupils attended The Festival of Play at Stranmillis University College, an interactive careers and computing event designed to introduce young people to opportunities within the video games industry.

The event featured a range of engaging workshops, presentations and hands-on activities, providing pupils with valuable insight into how video games are designed, developed and produced. Working alongside industry professionals and representatives from organisations including Ulster University, Adobe, Microsoft DreamSpace, Flip Computing, and Into Film, pupils explored the creative and technical skills required for careers in this rapidly growing sector.

Throughout the day, pupils were introduced to a variety of STEM-related career pathways and were given opportunities to gain practical experience with a range of creative technologies. The event offered an inspiring and informative experience, highlighting the diverse opportunities available within the digital and technology industries.

We would like to commend all of the pupils for their enthusiasm, engagement, and excellent participation throughout the event. Well done to everyone involved.

This morning’s Year 11 Awards Ceremony was a wonderful occasion, bringing together pupils, parents and family members to celebrate achievement and character. The event recognised outstanding academic success, with our top-performing pupils acknowledged for their dedication and excellence across subjects, with Jake McKinney achieving Top Academic performance.

A special highlight was the presentation of the Pupil of the Year awards to three exceptional individuals. These pupils were chosen for consistently demonstrating our core school values of respect, integrity and commitment, both in their learning and in their contributions to the wider school community -
- Respect - Thomas
- Integrity - Leo
- Commitment - Afdal

It was a proud and uplifting event, reflecting the hard work of our Year 11 cohort and the strong partnership between school and home.
