It's been a good year at CCB Music 🎢

We kick started the year August with a relocation down the hill to a beautiful new building that very quickly felt like home. September seen pupils return, instrumental lessons and extra-curricular groups starting back up. We had our first Family Service in October and a trip to the Waterfront to see the Ulster Orchestra. We welcomed Mrs Turner to the department in November and finished the year with our Carol Service in Central Hall, with some ABRSM exams thrown in to keep us busy.

2026 started with a bang. Guys and Dolls on our first week back, quickly followed by Open Day in January and mock exams in February. Another family service followed in March, with the annual Spring Concert following hot on its heels. After a (well deserved) Easter break, we returned for GCSE & A Level practicals in April, followed swiftly by supporting the Campbell College Junior School with their production of The Lion King in May. And we finished the year on a high with yet more successes in ABRSM, Trinity and LCM exams.

It's finally time to wave goodbye to the 2025/26 season and recharge the batteries before we do it all over again next year!

A huge thank you to our peripatetic teachers who work tirelessly 1-1 with pupils, our leaders of extra-curricular ensembles, teachers (Mr Doherty (HoD), Mrs Coetzee, Mrs Turner and Mrs Johnston) and mostly to the boys, for their commitment and enthusiasm in bringing CCB Music to life!

We leave you, for now, with a snippet from the finale of our 2026 Spring Concert - You're The Voice by John Farnham, Guest Soloist Zoe (Bloomfield Collegiate), Friends of Campbell College Pipe Band, Middle and Senior Choirs and the rock group πŸŽ₯

A massive congratulations to all our pupils who sat ABRSM & Trinity College music exams Summer term. Your dedication and practice have paid dividends & we are immensely proud of you!

A special shout out to Alexander (Y12, Drums) and Zachary (Y13, Saxophone) who passed their Grade 8 exams respectively. And to brothers Alex (Y11) and Sam (Y10) for both passing their grade 6 piano exams!

Onwards and upwards, gents πŸ“ˆβœ…

Just a mere 22 weeks on from opening night, some of our Senior musicians had the immense privilege of providing live pit band music for the school production of Guys and Dolls in January.

Armed with pizza, chocolate, caffeine & (a good amount of) fear, we took to the stage after a week (!) of band rehearsals (and two weeks of Christmas Holidays, were instruments may or may not have left their cases... πŸ‘€).

After two dress rehearsals, and three full shows, it's safe to say that the pit band members could recite the script and song lyrics, word for word, and were on standby for any character, should they fall ill.

We had the best craic, and are thankful to the Drama Department for affording us this opportunity to support a very able and committed cast. We can't wait for the next one!

✨ Throwback Thursday ✨

Our wonderful Senior Band kick started our 2026 Spring Concert Programme with a set of three pieces, including this exciting work by American composer, Randal D. Standridge.

Featuring Saxophonist, Matthew (Year 14, Yates's) and conducted by Mr C Sloan, 'Affirmation' tells a story of acceptance, showing that we have more in common than we have in difference. Peace, love and music 🎷

Sit back, relax and enjoy the 2026 Senior Band playing 'Affirmation' 🎼
