Unwinding after the festival somehow turned into a rather special afterparty… 💙

Not only did we get another chance to hear Lee Hedley, but Dexter pulled out yet more of his never-ending talents — including sharing a little of his own Filipino culture and the reason the Philippines is known as the “singing nation”. 🇵🇭🎶

More workshops with Dexter Santos, more dancing, and Saturday night with the brilliant Lee Hedley Blues Band. 🎶

Plus performances, competitions, plenty of questionable dancing faces, and lots of those little moments that made the weekend so special.

Another little snapshot of three very full days of Blues, music, dancing and connection.

Huge thanks again to everyone who helped make this happen — especially our wonderful team of friends who somehow turned a hairbrained idea into an actual festival. 💙

And just like that… our first Black Mountain Blues Festival is a wrap. 💙

Three days of Blues, dancing, live music, ridiculous amounts of fun, and a whole lot of connection.

We were very lucky to have the brilliant Santos with us as our visiting teacher, and to have Gareth Hughes Blues Band providing the soundtrack to our first night. 🎶

Here’s a little snapshot of our first festival — from workshops and dancing to live music and all the bits in between.

Still slightly amazed that this actually happened. 🥹

A massive thank you to everyone who came, taught, played, danced, volunteered, helped, supported and generally threw themselves into our slightly hairbrained idea.

We couldn’t have done it without you. 💙

If anyone out there knows their way around metal roofs and guttering and fancies coming to our rescue, we’d be forever grateful! 🙏

Until we can fundraise to get the roof properly fixed and return the doorway to its formal glory, we’ve literally built internal guttering to collect the drips for our Juke Yard community garden.

Dancers turned engineers… because apparently that’s what we do now. 😂

We don’t mind dancing in lots of places…but we really don’t like dancing in the rain. 😳💃

So if you know someone who might be able to help, please send them our way…we’d love to save our dance shoes from getting a proper soaking! 😂🙏

So proud of our Sunday Solo Blues class this term 💙

They wanted a challenge… and they definitely got one! This choreo by Edmilson Botelho is full of isolations, rhythm changes and plenty to get the brain & body working 😂

This week at The Juke Yard was all about getting the space ready for Autumn/Winter 🍂

A bit of bulb planting, adding some colour with winter flowers and generally getting things ready for the colder months.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that this group of volunteers have built all of this from absolutely nothing in just 10 months! 💚

Lots of hard work (and plenty of laughs) has gone into it… and it’s looking pretty good!

Our Autumn Programme offers relaxed, welcoming ways to take part in shared activities and meet people naturally along the way.

Our social dance classes begin from 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟮𝟴 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, with daytime, evening and weekend opportunities to explore Blues, Swing and Jazz. The music is our leader!

You don’t need to consider yourself a dancer, bring a partner or know anyone before you arrive. Our classes are beginner-friendly, and many people come along on their own.
