Elmgrove Primary School Belfast

As we come to the end of another busy school year, we would like to thank all of our pupils, staff, parents and carers for their hard work, dedication and support throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of everything our children have achieved and grateful to the entire Elmgrove community for helping make this year so wonderful.
Over the summer break, staff will be taking a well-deserved rest and will not be accessing emails or Seesaw.
We wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing summer and look forward to welcoming our pupils back on Wednesday 26th August, ready for another exciting year ahead! ☀️📚 ❤️💚

Over the past few weeks, children having been piecing more evidence together for Mr Floyds Science Club to solve a crime, "Who stole Mr Floyd's cookies from the cookie jar". Children have experienced chromatography by finding out whose pen wrote a ransom note as well as analysing fingerprints left on the cookie jar. By learning the ins and outs of DNA, using Microscopes, chromatography and fingerprint analysis, the children were able to find out the criminal was Mr Cousins!

On the last day of science club, the children were joined by Miss Craig and Mr McCann from Dundonald High School. The children learned about physics and chemistry by making bottle rockets as well as experiencing a woosh bottle and seeing Mr Floyd's hand being set on fire!

Thank you to the fabulous children who listened and worked incredibly well as part of a team. Also, thank you to Dundonald High School for the use of their equipment as well as taking the time to visit our wonderful school! 💚❤️

Our final Stars of the Week for this school year have been chosen for consistently demonstrating our school values of Respect, Endeavour, Aspire and Challenge. Primary 5 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Clandeboye Nature Rangers recently. Outdoor play and Forest School learning were the main focus; our children were solving problems by creating natural mazes, gently catching wildlife in their nets, showing teamwork in outdoor games, having fun in outdoor play areas and making delicious s’mores! The weather was kind and our pupils’ behaviour was excellent. Well done P5 and thank you to Clandeboye Nature Rangers for a super experience!❤️💚

Mrs Chivers’ class and Mrs McKee’s class had a fantastic day out at W5 recently!
From exciting science exhibits to engaging challenges, the children had the opportunity to explore, discover and learn in a fun and interactive way.
We are so proud of all of the children for their super listening and great manners throughout the trip. A big thank you to the staff at W5 and to everyone who helped make the trip such a success! ⭐🔬 ❤️💚

P5 classes have been enjoying their Ancient Egyptian topic; last week, it was time for their annual Ancient Egypt Day! Here are some photos from Mr Pollock’s class. All projects were absolutely super – just have a look through these photos and see the amazing amount of time and effort that went into these quality pieces of work. We enjoyed a great day together, from impressive costumes, wrapping our friends up likes mummies, to creating pyramids from spaghetti and marshmallows, and so much more! ❤️💚

Last Friday was 'Gunge Day' for our teachers and assistants! After a few weeks of voting, four lucky staff members came out on top. Well done to Mr Reid (1st), the joint entry of Mrs Agnew and Miss McCamley (2nd) and Mr Taylor (3rd), who faced the dreaded gunge.
It was such a close call that Mr Floyd, Mrs Andrews and Miss Tate also got rewarded with a pie splat to the face.
Thank you to all of the teachers and assistants that took part in such a fantastic event! A super £237.65 was raised to support our children and provide future experiences in school.
