Antrim Enterprise

Antrim Enterprise Agency is delighted to announce a new pilot project in Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough- HER SHE’d to Help, Encourage and Reassure up to 20 women from the age of 19 upwards who are feeling isolated, want to have social activities and friendships as well as build their confidence and increase their skills.

They will receive taster sessions in plumbing, tiling, DIY, electrics, painting & decorating along with sowing, growing & cooking. WOMENSTEC and Groundwork NI will be delivering key elements of this project.

Participants will also be introduced to what is involved in setting up their own community shed or social enterprise; so that they can go back to their own communities to develop the concept if they so wish.

In addition all participants will benefit from resilience sessions from Fresh Minds Education. A Safe Space to be Me - Emotional Well-being Hub will provide one to one confidential counselling for anyone who needs specific support.

HER SHE’d will be delivered over 16 weeks at Antrim Enterprise Agency and is funded by the @Community Fund for Northern Ireland from the #TamponTax Community Fund.

We hope that you will help us spread the news – you may already know someone you think who could benefit from this fantastic programme so let them know.

The first step for them is to register with Jennifer McWilliams for our information evening on 27th Feb at 18:00 at the enterprise centre.

WE ARE ACCEPTING NO FURTHER ENQUIRIES ABOUT MERMAIDS! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE UNBELIEVABLE RESPONSE. WE HAVE MORE MERMAIDS THAN WE KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH.

UPDATE: We are now completely drowning in mermaid enquiries and don't have the capacity to handle more. THANK YOU to everyone who has been in touch!! AMAZING. We may not be able to contact everyone. We will focus on Irish based mermaids with definite mono-fin experience who have mailed us and given us their experience summary for now.

We are seeking Ireland based, strong and experienced female sea swimmers to be mermaids. (Yes, a slightly odd job ad). Experience with mono-fin. Synchro swimmers a bonus. For rehearsal/one day filming in the North Coast area during the summer. Further details tbc. If you are a mermaid, email [email protected]

FYI

Important traffic and travel advice - Belfast 9 May 2018

Road users are advised to anticipate traffic disruption and plan for potential delays in Belfast this afternoon, Wednesday 9 May.

Up to 42,000 people are expected to attend the Ed Sheeran concert at the Boucher playing fields in south Belfast, and the Europa League Play Off Semi Final between Linfield and Glentoran, is due to kick off at 7.45pm in the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.

Cones will be placed near both venues to maximise public safety, minimise traffic disruption and secure Emergency Vehicle Access. Motorists must comply with these restrictions.

Attending the concert or arranging drop-offs / pick-ups?

There is NO parking available in the vicinity of the venue. Patrons are advised to park in the City Centre and either walk to the concert, or use the special Translink Metro and rails Services - for more information visit www.translink.co.uk

There will NOT be any ‘drop off’ points in the area of the Event Site. ‘Drop offs’ and ‘Pick ups’ should be arranged at locations well away from the Event Site.

At the end of the concert, most likely from 10.15pm to around midnight, strict traffic restrictions will be implemented, with NO through traffic permitted on Boucher Road. Again, ‘Pick ups’ should be arranged at locations well away from the Event site. Motorists must comply with directions of police officers and any mobile variable message signs or overhead gantrys on Westlink/ M1.

For more information on the concert, visit www.aikenpromotions.com or www.facebook.com/aikenpromotions

Attending the football?

Increased congestion is expected in the area and following consultation with both clubs and the Irish FA, we would ask those attending the match to take note of the following arrangements.

Gates open at 6.30pm. Fans are asked to arrive early to avoid any delays on entry to the stadium.

Linfield supporters will occupy the South Stand and are encouraged to park at the Lisburn Road side of the Stadium and enter via the footbridge to the South Stand entrance. This will greatly facilitate fans leaving the area after the match by avoiding the most congested areas.

Glentoran supporters will occupy the North Stand and are encouraged to park between Tates Avenue and Donegall Road, and adjacent areas. These fans will enter the stadium via Tates Avenue to Boucher Road and enter the stadium via the walkway to the North Stand.

There will be no parking available on the Boucher Road or Glenmachan Street. Supporters are also asked to note that to facilitate concert attendees leaving their venue most likely from 10.15pm to around midnight, strict traffic restrictions will be implemented, with NO through traffic permitted on Boucher Road.

Glentoran Supporters’ buses should drop fans off at the Boucher Road entrance to the stadium. The ‘pick up’ after the match will be at the same location.
