Getting creative using materials sourced from Play resource center.
The children have been having great fun, needle and threading using potato sacks.
This activity encourages creative thinking while also aiding development in fine motor skills. It particularly aids development in bilateral coordination with two hands working together. Threading aims to support children build confidence and gain independence through mastery.
This can be a calming and mindful activity requiring concentration. Bryson Play Resource Scrapstore PlayBoard NI

Here in Tús Geal the return of the dark nights doesn't mean being stuck inside.
It means using our imagination and embracing the fun and the magic of playing in the dark.
Today the children did just that, using only a few torches and having what they called 'shadow shows'.
While also having bucket loads of fun, Children through play with lights and shadows can learn and explore many theories from shape, size, perspective & colour. Playing around with shadows can also support development of gross motor skills including control over our body and movement and as already mentioned, be a bucket load of fun!
We would encourage you give it a go 🔦

This week we have been learning about Diwali- The festival of light.
The children designed a lovely brightly lit wall display to showcase their work. We also worked on some beautiful and colourful Rangoli chalk patterns in our outdoor area. Tomorrow we will make Diya lamps 🎊🪔🕯️

The children in Tús Geal love hummus. We would use 2/3 tubs per week, and we would put the empty tubs into the junk art.
Yesterday one of the children came and said to me, that there were lots of Hummus tubs in the junk art and that maybe it was a waste of plastic. She suggested that we make our own Hummus and re-use the containers. What a fabulous and Eco friendly idea!
So today, that's exactly what we did! It was an absolute treat to make, the children loved the activity and it was decided that it was much tastier than shop bought.
Going forward we will make our own Hummus and the children have decided that each week we should try to add different flavours.

The children decided on making some Autumn playdough yesterday. They fully led the activity, experimenting with texture, colours, scents using spices and shapes using moulds and their hands. It was a great sensory activity, that they absolutely loved.
