Here is another blog / reference guide which is REALLY important, both now and in particular when you are making your decisions about which school you need to put onto the post-primary transfer form

In short, every school in NI makes their own decisions how they will accept children into their school and the legal details of that are captured on the Admission Criteria document. This is why it is important.

When you first open them they may feel a bit heavy but I can guarantee you that by the end of January you’ll probably be an expert, so give it time and it will eventually sink in.

Basically they all follow a similar structure with key sections like:
💥 Standard info at the top: their name, school type, phone number, social media etc.
💥 Details of their Open Night - yes, I have opened every single one to capture this info for you into the Open Njght Blog. 😉
💥 How the school will organise to offer places and admit pupils next year and what happens if there is a tie-break doe last place. This is the key part that will help you make your decisions after results.
💥 Details on previous admission numbers for the last three years (at the very bottom)- this is good to see how oversubscribed the school is each year.

I also recommend you read each document before the school’s Open Night so you are armed with knowledge and perhaps questions.

⭐ SEAG 2025 – Paper 1 Debrief (Unofficial Guide) ⭐

Each year after the first SEAG test, we look at the topics children say they’ve seen so we can get a sense of what may come up in the second paper. We’ve put together our unofficial Paper 1 debrief, based entirely on what a small number of children have shared today.

If we can help boost confidence even by 1%, we’ll absolutely do that.

Parents and tutors - feel free to have a read if you’re planning lessons or revision for your P7 children next week. The document is attached.

💥 Test - Time Check 💥

As a reminder, always go with the times your test centre has given you (like, if they said arrive for 9am, then go with that - and did I really need to say that aloud? 😄) but these times are generally what most of the test centres are running with, so I hope that helps make it clear.

Times:
⏰ 9:15am - arrive at centre
⏰ 10:00 - Test starts with the practice questions first which should take around 10mins to go through.
⏰ 11:15 - 11:30 - Time will finish at approximately 11:15 for the people with 1hr and 11:30 for those with extra time.

💥 The important thing is DON'T BE LATE!!!! If you're late you won't get access to the room and no accommodation will be made to get you in. 😳

But don't worry about that as everything will go perfectly as expected.

Remember, it's an exciting time and not an anxious one (these emotions can feel the same). 🥳
