Congratulations to our Year 12 GCSE boys 2026!

This was our largest ever year group with 208 boys sitting a total of 1896 papers!
We are very proud of these amazing young men who have achieved wonderful results. In recent years, we have extended our GCSE to offer additional subjects outside of timetabled classes, and 7 of our boys attained an impressive 12 GCSE Grades with another 15 boys attaining 11.

We are also delighted in their core subjects with 99% of boys attaining A*-C grades in Maths and 97% A*-C in English Language. 100% A*-C across Biology, Physics and Chemistry with 97.6% A*-C in Double Award Science.

The Board of Governors of the College invites applications for the following posts:

🔘Classroom Assistants (Special Needs) (Term-Time)
Permanent and Temporary (to June ’27) term time posts to provide assistance to individual pupils with special educational and behavioural needs.

🔘Learning Mentor (Temporary for one year)
To provide a complementary service to existing teachers and pastoral staff in the school, addressing the needs of the children who need help to overcome barriers to learning. She/he will work intensively with young people with special and additional educational needs. The particular emphasis of this work is on helping these pupils to achieve their academic potential by minimising learning barriers.

🔘Science Technician (Chemistry) (Term-Time, Temporary)
To provide organisational support to Chemistry and Junior Science teaching staff in the implementation of the College’s/Department’s educational programme.

Congratulations to Eamonn Tohill!

We are delighted that Eamonn Tohill, has signed for Middlesbrough FC.
Eamonn's dedication, talent and hard work have earned him this fantastic opportunity after progressing through the ranks at Cliftonville FC, where he made his senior debut at just 16 years of age. A Northern Ireland Under-17 international, Eamonn has already made his mark on the international stage. Over the past 5 years, Eamonn has represented the College at all levels with many outstanding performances.
This latest achievement is a testament to Eamonn's commitment both on and off the pitch. As he begins the next chapter of his football journey with Middlesbrough's Academy, we wish him every success and look forward to following his progress in the years ahead.

Outstanding A Level Success at St Malachy’s College!
We are immensely proud of the exceptional achievements of our students at A2 level in 2025-2026. College staff had a great morning celebrating with our boys and their families. After seven years, our class of 2026 are leaving as true Malachians ready to embrace the next stage of their journey. Out of a year group of 143,
1 student achieved an outstanding 5 A*-A grades
5 additional students achieved 4 A*-A grades
28 students achieved 3 A*-A grades*
These outstanding accomplishments sit alongside excellent outcomes across the entire cohort:
72 students achieved at least ABB, representing 50.3% of the cohort and 76.5% of all grades awarded were A*-B.
The results of all our boys reflect not only academic excellence, but also the character, commitment and resilience of our young men. They are a testament to the dedication of our students, the support of their families, and the unwavering commitment of our teaching and support staff.
At St Malachy’s College, our motto Gloria Ab Intus reminds us that true success comes from nurturing talent, ambition and integrity. The achievements of the Class of 2026 are a wonderful embodiment of that ethos.

🎓 AS & A2 Results Day | Thursday 13 August

We look forward to welcoming our AS & A2 pupils back to the College from 9.00am on Thursday to collect their results and celebrate their achievements.

GLORIA AB INTUS

A concert celebrating the contribution to the College Music Department of Fathers Kevin and Brendan McMullan and Mrs Mary Mallon

College Hall, Saturday 3rd October at 7.00pm, followed by drinks reception

All welcome. Admission free, retiring collection in support of the Music Department

Solos and ensembles featuring College alumni, including Gary Arbuthnot, Francis King, Michael d’Arcy, Neil Martin, Peter McCarthy and Darragh Morgan.

Year 8 Soccer 2025-26

The Year 8 soccer squad of 2025-2026 did extremely well to reach the quarter finals of the NISFA Cup. It all began in October 2025 with a 5-2 away victory against St Joseph’s College (Belfast) in the preliminary round. This was followed by another three away victories in the proceeding rounds against Edmund Rice College (7-0), Parkhall College (3-2), and Carrickfergus College (6-1). The run came to an end in the quarter finals after a 3-0 defeat to Coláiste Feirste. The Belfast Cup run was short-lived with a 3-2 defeat to Campbell College in the first round.

A series of friendly matches were also arranged at the start and end of the year against OLSP Knock, Aquinas Grammar School and De La Salle Belfast.

It was great to see over 70 boys consistently and enthusiastically attend many of the training sessions between September 2025 and March 2026.

8A recently showcased the weapons they made after studying the Normans in England and in Ireland.

Well done boys (and is some cases family members!) for all the hard work put into making these weapons used by the Normans and Irish in the C12th.
