This is one of Ireland’s oldest harps and it's a true symbol of national identity! 🇮🇪🎻
The Trinity College Harp, often called "Brian Boru’s Harp," is a stunning medieval instrument housed in the Long Room at Trinity College Dublin 🏛️📜 Dating back to the 14th or 15th century, it’s one of just three surviving Gaelic harps from that era, alongside the Queen Mary and Lamont Harps 🎼
Though once linked to Brian Boru, experts now believe it belonged to a noble family of the time 👑 Its intricate craftsmanship and wire-strung frame make it a masterpiece of Irish musical heritage 🎶✨.
But this harp’s legacy isn’t just musical—it shaped Ireland’s coat of arms 🏵️, appears on coins 💰, and even inspired the Guinness logo 🍺☘️

I hope everyone has had a wonderful first day back home! I think my feet are returning to normal, I am extremely grateful for air conditioning, I am catching up on sleep (and laundry!), and hoping when I do drive I remember to literally drive on the right side of the road!
I know I talked to you all on the bus yesterday, but I wanted to take one more opportunity to say "thank you!"
First, I want to say "thank you" to all my student travelers! I couldn't have asked for a better group of students to travel with! Thank you for being on time, for being respectful to everyone we encountered, for being patient and pretty chill when things were challenging or frustrating or annoying. For those of you who were new to international travel and/or have not travelled much without your family, you should be extremely proud of yourselves! I watched you grow in confidence, find your people, and step out of your comfort zone. Ross texted me this about you today: " [thank you] to your group for all being so kind, respectful and pleasant to travel with." All of you did a great job of working through issues that arose within yourselves and/or with others. You learned that it is not always easy to travel with people, even if they are your friends or family. It is inevitable that at some point after living and moving in closer quarters with each other, at some point you will become annoyed with each other. You learned that it is okay to step away for a moment and take a breath. Whether you know it or not you all became problem-solvers.
You have had so many new experiences these last 10 days, both big and small. Now you know that in Europe the ground floor is what we consider the 1st floor and the 1st floor is what we would call the 2nd floor, etc. You learned that in Europe they call the bathrooms either the toilets or the water closet. Those of you who were brave learned that haggis is not all that bad. And, you experienced multiple modes of transportation all in one trip. I encourage you to either do a written or audio journal about the trip or maybe make a video diary. You think you will remember everything, but take it from someone who knows, you won't! Consider using this experience as the topic of your college application essays. It is my hope that this adventure has broadened your horizons and has inspired you to continue to travel to far away places.
Second, I want to thank the parents who joined us on this journey. You were a delight to travel with. I am glad that I had the opportunity to get to know you and I am grateful for your willingness to keep an eye on all of the kids even though there was no expectation for you to do so. I would travel with any of you again in a heartbeat!
Next, to my chaperones, Mrs. Dietz, Ms. Henry, and Ms. Clemons, thank you for agreeing to be chaperones with me and thank you for having my back at all times, even when I was a hot mess! We worked like a well-oiled machine! I appreciate you more than you will know!
Finally, a huge "thank you" to the parents and grandparents and other family members for your support and for following along with us on our journey! Thank you for trusting me with your family member(s)! I did not take that responsibility lightly. I hope this experience was everything you hoped for your family member(s) and more. This couldn't have happened without you!!
Okay, this was far more than I said on the bus, so I thank you for reading it to the end.
As I did say on the bus, please consider sharing some of your fun, interesting, and or favorite pictures on this page. Keep checking back to this page for updates and announcements. There may be another tour in our future! Stay tuned . . .
