We were delighted to welcome former pupil Seán Ó'Cléirigh back to HCB this week to deliver Handball coaching sessions for our P3 and P7 pupils. Sean began his handball journey at Holy Cross Boys' in Primary 6 and went on to become one of the school's most successful players in the sport. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the first session and are already looking forward to next week's coaching.

This is the second year that St. Malachy’s College has warmly welcomed our Primary 7 pupils, providing them with the opportunity to develop important digital and technological skills in a state-of-the-art learning environment.
The boys from P7 Room 19 thoroughly enjoyed their visit and had the chance to engage with a range of modern equipment and programmes. One of the highlights of the day was an introduction to the Sphero software, a coding platform used to control robotic devices.
The pupils learned how to programme their robots, using measurements, speed and direction, developing their understanding of coding and computational thinking.
A huge thank you from everyone in HCB Room 19 to the staff at St. Malachy’s College Digital Hub for their warm welcome, expertise and support.

Receiving an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from University College Dublin on behalf of Holy Cross Boys’ Primary School is a deeply humbling privilege. This recognition belongs entirely to our remarkable pupils, dedicated staff, and supportive parents. Together, through our commitment to embedding philosophy into the classroom, we have given our young people the tools to question, reason, and express themselves with confidence, empathy, and critical thought.
This honour reflects the resilience, intellect, and heart of our entire school community in Ardoyne, proving that when we empower children to think deeply, their voices can reach far beyond the classroom walls.

We are delighted to present this special event as part of the ArdBoneFest programme this August.

Join us for an evening of thoughtful conversation and reflection as we revisit the events of the Holy Cross dispute of 2001 and explore the lasting importance of dialogue, understanding and reconciliation.

We are honoured to welcome Fr Aidan Troy CP and Rev Dr Norman Hamilton—two men from different traditions who, during one of the most challenging periods in our recent history, worked tirelessly to promote peace, compassion and hope within their communities.

Hosted by veteran journalist Mark Simpson, this promises to be an insightful and engaging discussion, offering personal reflections, unique perspectives and valuable lessons on the power of courage, leadership and reconciliation.

Whether you lived through those events or want to better understand this important chapter in our shared history, everyone is warmly welcome to attend.
