This week, our Butterfly Room have been exploring 3D shapes through hands-on play. We have been naming and describing shapes, sorting them in different ways, and talking about their properties. We have also explored which shapes can stack and which shapes cannot stack, helping the children develop their mathematical language, problem-solving skills and understanding of shape in a fun, practical way. 😀

Today Pope Leo VIV opened a prayer initiative - One million people praying the Rosary. We welcomed Fr Thomas into our school to pray the Rosary with the children. Fr Thomas told the children about receiving Holy Rosary Beads from the Pope and how special it was to get these blessed 🙏 We all felt the power of prayer today.

🚶‍♀️ Walking Club! 🌿

Our good friend Miss Weir will be hosting a Walking Club every Thursday at 9:15am.

Come along, get some fresh air, enjoy a chat and start the day with a little walk! 💙

Everyone is very welcome to join! 😊

🌿 Community Walking Group 🌿

Miss Weir would like to invite parents, carers, grandparents, extended family members and our wider school community, including families from local primary schools, to join our Community Walking Group.

🚶‍♀️ Starting Thursday 1st October
🕘 9.15am - 10.00am
📅 Every Thursday for 4 weeks

This is a chance to come together, enjoy a walk, have a chat and build connections within our community. We know that talking, sharing experiences and supporting one another can make a real difference. By working together and getting involved, we can create a stronger network of support for our children and families.

Everyone is welcome. The more connected we are as a community, the more we can support one another.

We look forward to seeing you there! 💚

Our Primary 7 children used their math skills to solve tough compound shape puzzles, calculating both area and perimeter.
We are so proud of the confidence these children showed, getting up to explain their methods for calculating area and perimeter of compound shapes! ✏️🌟

Introducing our brand-new reading initiative:

📚 Big Buddies, Little Bookworms!

We are delighted to launch our new Big Buddies, Little Bookworms initiative this term! As part of our Nursery School Development Plan (SDP) to boost early literacy, we are partnering with our local primary schools St Joseph’s Primary School Slate Street and St. Peter’s Primary School Belfast. Throughout each month, Primary 7 pupils will visit our nursery to share stories and read 1-on-1 with our children. This wonderful program is designed to help our nursery children develop language fluency, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love for reading through peer-to-peer learning. It also creates a beautiful bridge between the nursery and primary schools, helping our oldest nursery children feel more comfortable with the transition ahead. Keep an eye out for photos of our reading sessions on our website, Facebook and Seesaw learning journal platforms !
