Queen’s Students’ Union – Statement on Disorder in our City

Queen’s Students’ Union condemns in the strongest possible terms the violence that has taken place in our city in recent days. The entire student community has been shocked by the vicious attack on Monday evening, as well as the subsequent rioting and targeting of ethnic minority communities.

Acts of violence, intimidation, and racial hatred have no place in our society. We stand in solidarity with all those affected. The organisers and perpetrators of these actions do not represent the people of Belfast.

In the coming days, we encourage all students to follow safety advice issued by Queen’s University and local authorities, and to seek support if needed. University and Students’ Union support services remain available, including the QUB Student Wellbeing Service and SU Advice.

In solidarity,
Your Student Officer Team
