There are some things in the coaching world you will always remember… this is one of those days. Just over 24 hours ago, it looked like the club I coach at were going to take the field with 14. As a coach you just can’t see that happen, so I volunteered to be the 15th player. But the opportunity to play beside my former and students who play at the club was just too good to miss. But to get to play against another former academy student & refereed by a former HE academy student, was a lovely surprise. Finally to have my 2 daughters there to watch their daddy play a sport which he has coaches their whole lives, just made it all the more enjoyable. Thank you for the memories gents and ladies! And thank you to for allowing me to play.

Am honoured to have been offered a role as coach in Ballynahinch RFC Ladies for their 2024/25 campaign.

Coming into week 3 of the new Preseason with Civil Service (NI) RFC.

Players have been working hard. First run out is coming up and keen to see if the club can build on the increases in successful performances from last season.

I have had many a journey in Belfast Met, establishing a first ever U18 Rugby Academy within a Further Education College which taught theoretical & academic units, geared at improving a young players in the sport they loved the most. Primarily aimed at those young players outside of the Schools Rugby System and giving them the same access and exposure to that of a Grammar School U18 student.

Now is the newest journey and so honoured to be the Foundation Degree Course Director for this new programme in the College.

A course combining my two sporting interests and I am so ready to help the younger coaches in the UK and Ireland develop their coaching through the soft skills and using technology and data to focus their training sessions for the improvements of their players.

Validated by the The Open University, this is going to be some craic for anyone who enjoys using real life data to formulate their next steps in the coaching environment.

With the rugby season now over, it’s time to pause and reflect on the season just past and look forward to a building project at Ulster Rugby. To help me and Dan do this, we’re joined by a former prop who started off his career with Ulster before going on to play for Connacht and premiership tea...
