Maith sibh a phaistí!

Naoise, Cara, Luca, Jude (Primary 5), Lily, Rosie, Dennis and Michael (Primary 6) participated in Feis Béal Feirste this morning. The children have been learning Irish for a number of weeks with Miss Beatty and Mr Kennedy. We are very proud of their engagement in lessons and dedication to sacrifice a Saturday morning to represent our school.

This morning, we were very successful with Naoise and Cara announced as joint winners of the Rang a Cuig Comhrá (conversation), Luca placing 2nd and Jude placing 3rd in the competition.

Each of our Rang a Sé pupils placed 3rd in their heat. An extremely impressive achievement this morning for our na gaelgoirí óga!

It has been a pleasure teaching these children Irish and seeing their enthusiasm and thirst for learning their native tongue. We are two very lucky teachers to get this opportunity.

Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam 🇮🇪
A country without its tongue is without its soul.

🍃🐜🌳🐜Outdoor Learning 🐜🌳🐜🍃
We had a wonderful morning learning outdoors in Musgrave Park. Our P1 children loved creating fairy houses, hunting for bugs and exploring nature with Jenny and her team from Belfast City Council.
Thanks Mr Haughey for organising our visit!

This week on Mr. Kelly’s Wall of Fame, we proudly celebrate the incredible achievements of our talented children! Brody has been dazzling us with his ice skating skills, while Daniel, Curtis, Roise, Bella, Malachy, Luca, Millie and Seonas have shown great teamwork and determination on the football field. Fiadh has brought joy to our community with her vibrant performances in lyrical dancing and Betsy and Barney have both excelled in gymnastics, showcasing their strength and grace. Grace has been making waves in camogie and Jack has been impressive in both swimming and football. Ethan and Amelia have been mastering their jiu-jitsu techniques, demonstrating focus and dedication. Keep shining, everyone! 🌟

We’re sorry to say that we’ve ran out of room on the Wall of Fame and it will resume in September!

🏆 🏆 🏆 We celebrated prizegiving for Primary 4-7 this morning, an event at which we reward the achievements of the children in each class and then our overall Primary 7 award winners.

We welcomed Antrim Gaelic Football captain and past pupil Eoghan McCabe to speak to our children and distribute the awards. Eoghan spoke of his time in St Teresa’s, the similarities between sport and study and the need for one of our core values- resilience.

If it wasn’t your day to receive an award, please use that feeling of disappointment as motivation for next year and celebrate the achievements of your friends.

We’d like to thank Eoghan and Dr Dermot Hanna for donating their time to help make this morning a memorable one for all in attendance.🏆 🏆 🏆

P1D had a fantastic time taking part in the Belfast Learning Festival workshop ‘The Imaginators: Building Belfast’s Future Brick by Brick’. 🧱🌈
Working together with LEGO, the children used their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills to design and bring their imaginative ideas to life. A huge thank you to Beverley and Adrian for visiting and supporting us with our ideas! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Today we had the privilege of welcoming Helen McLean, a talented mosaic artist, into St Teresa’s to lead a truly special whole‑school project. Every pupil, member of staff team and governors, took part in collaboratively creating a mosaic that will soon take pride of place at the front entrance of our school.

Helen spent time with each year group, explaining the process of creating mosaics and sharing examples of her beautiful work. Pupils then had the exciting opportunity to get hands on, each placing an individual tile into the design. This means every child will always have a physical reminder of their time here in St Teresa’s, a small piece of art that they helped bring to life.

The finished mosaic is expected to be ready by September, and we couldn’t be more excited. It will form the backdrop for our new statue of St Teresa of Ávila and mark the starting point of our Camino Prayer Walk, creating a meaningful and welcoming space for our whole school community.

A huge thank‑you to Helen for her creativity, patience and inspiration. Also, to our pupils, who approached the experience with enthusiasm, curiosity, and pride.
