If your child is saying no to everything lately, you are not alone đź’›
Sometimes it is not about refusing. It is about how hard it feels to get started. This is where behaviour momentum can really help!
Start with a few easy requests you know your child can do. Things that feel simple and achievable:
High five
Pass me that
Touch your nose
You are building a flow of success
Then gently move to the harder task like putting shoes on or getting dressed
It is about reducing pressure and helping them get going!
Small wins can make a big difference ✨

With the Easter holidays just around the corner… ✨
There can be so much pressure to create “magic”
But when routines are disrupted, no school, different mornings, unpredictable plans, many autistic children aren’t experiencing magic…
They’re experiencing overwhelm.
And as parents, that can feel really hard đź’›
Here’s your reminder:
✨ Regulation over perfection ✨
You don’t have to do everything.
You don’t have to say yes to every plan.
Keeping a familiar morning routine, scheduling in quiet time, or even just slowing things down can make a huge difference.
Because when a child feels safe and regulated…
That’s where the real magic is.
Not in perfect days.
But in feeling understood.

Sometimes we have to take our own advice đź’™
Over the next few weeks, I will be walking almost 300km across Portugal and Spain, completing a route of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago in memory of my beautiful brother 🤍
It is time for me to reflect, to honour him, and to be fully present for the journey, physically and emotionally.
Because of that, I will not have access to emails and I will not be responding to calls or texts while I am away. I am stepping away properly.
I am planning to return by mid to late March, all going well, and I will respond to messages as soon as I am back.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Craig’s Choice Consultancy. If there is one thing I always say to families, it is that rest matters, and now it is my turn to listen to that advice.

As 2025 comes to a close I want to say thank you đź’›
This year has been many things. Professionally, it has been a privilege to work alongside so many incredible families, supervisees, and organisations. Your trust, honesty, and commitment to doing what is right for the people you support continues to shape this work and I am so grateful ✨
As many of my followers will know, Craig’s Choice Consultancy was named after my brother Craig, and his loss earlier this year has made the purpose behind this work feel more important than ever before. Craig taught me more than any textbook ever could about dignity, patience, humour, and what truly person centred support should look like 🤍 His influence will always sit at the heart of my work.
🎄 Christmas Closure 🎄
Craig’s Choice Consultancy will be closed from 19th December at 3pm and will reopen on 5th January 2026.
Messages received during this time will be responded to once I am back.
Thank you to every family I have supported, every supervisee I have walked alongside, and every organisation I have worked with this year and those I will continue to work with in 2026 đź’«
Wishing you a gentle, restful Christmas whatever that looks like for you and your family 🎄✨

✨ Elf on the Shelf Behaviour Tip ✨
This December, let your elf be an encourager—not a spy.
Instead of threats like “He’s going to tell Santa you’re being naughty,” use your elf to spot and celebrate the positive behaviours you want to see more of.
đź’› Children grow when they feel safe, connected, and supported.
💛 Comment on what they’re doing well, even the small things.
đź’› Your elf can leave little notes praising kindness, effort, sharing, or problem-solving.
Positive reinforcement > fear every time.
Here’s to a calmer, more joyful run-up to Christmas 🎄✨

🌿 Out of office until 4th November 🌿
Taking a proper break with zero access to phone or email so I can fully recharge and come back refreshed.
Thank you, as always, for all the support, see you soon! đź’š

Today I had the privilege of delivering a lecture to further education lecturers. It was a real honour to speak with those who are shaping the futures of so many young people.
Further education holds a very special place in my own journey. From the age of 16 to 20 I attended .ac.uk after struggling to find my place in the school system. I had scraped by and just about managed to achieve 5 GCSE’s at Grade C.
In further education I was treated as an adult. I was respected, encouraged and most importantly believed in. Ten years later I graduated with a PhD from
I truly believe I would not be where I am today in my professional career had it not been for the further education college I attended. I will always be grateful to the people who supported and inspired me during those years. Thanks to , and Dr Aideen Hunter from for the invite. Such a lovely interactive group!
Hi families đź’™
Just a quick reminder:
Autism is not caused by painkillers (like paracetamol/Tylenol),
It’s not an epidemic, and it’s certainly not something to be “cured” or “fixed.”
Autism has always been here and we’re simply getting better at recognising and understanding it. 🌍✨
