I'm back to running African drumming classes again! This time at Suffolk Community Centre, 60 Carnanmore Park, Belfast BT10 0NQ. Easily accessible from Blacks Road, just off the M1, or 10 minutes from a glider stop.

You can book for 5 weeks, or drop in for any of the weeks as a one off. We'll go over basic techniques at the beginning each week so that beginners are not left behind!

Suitable for beginners/intermediate players.

Suitable for beginner to intermediate levels.

We'll be learning a playing a traditional African rhythm, and experiencing all the benefits that come with group drumming: releasing stress, finding calm, connecting with each other, experiencing joy!

The level of difficulty will be tailored to individual abilities. Djembe technique will be broken down for beginners, and some more advanced rhythms will be offered to those who have a bit more experience playing.

The next block of beginners classes will begin next Tuesday!

Experience the joy and connective power of playing drums with a group of people.

We'll learn basic djembe and dun dun techniques, learn traditional African rhythms, and improve our overall sense of rhythm.

Music is part of who we are at the deepest level and we don’t need any special talent or training to harness its power to enhance our lives. This workshop is aimed at empowering you to access the four elements of music – rhythm as medicine for the body, melody as medicine for the heart, harmony as medicine for the soul, and silence as medicine for the mind.

We will be using mindful listening practices, as well as music-making practices to deepen your connection to your inner sound, all based on Christine Stevens’ research into the science and spirit of healing yourself with sound.

I'm excited to be running some mindful drumming workshops at . The link between drumming and wellbeing is something that I'm super passionate about and these workshops will go deeper into the healing aspects of the drum.
