🤝 The best learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom!

Our team development day was filled with interactive activities, challenges and plenty of opportunities for our teams to work together.

Bringing colleagues from all six Orkids Group sites together gave everyone the chance to share their experiences, develop new skills, learn from one another and, importantly, have some fun along the way!

Team building is such an important part of what we do. Strong teams support one another, share knowledge and create a positive environment for everyone - including the children and families in our care.

We’re always looking for ways to learn, develop and grow together, making the most of the wealth of experience and knowledge we have across The Orkids Group. 🌱

🍽️ Keeping mealtimes safe is something we take seriously.

As part of our Orkids Group team development day, two of our fantastic chefs shared their knowledge around safer eating, allergies and our colour-coded approach to plates and food.

It was a valuable opportunity for our wider team to build their understanding of why consistent procedures are so important when caring for children with allergies and dietary requirements.

By bringing our chefs and childcare teams together, we can share knowledge, ask questions and make sure that safe practices are understood across all six of our sites.

It’s all part of our commitment to continually developing our skills, learning together and putting children’s wellbeing at the heart of what we do. 💛

At The Orkids Group, we believe that when our teams come together, we all learn from one another.

Our recent team development day brought together our Director, Julia Maynard, alongside our senior team from across all six of our sites. It was a brilliant opportunity to connect, share experiences, celebrate the knowledge within our teams and look at how we can continue developing together.

With so much experience across The Orkids Group, bringing everyone together means we can share ideas, learn from different perspectives and strengthen the skills that support our nurseries every day.

🍂 October is full of fun, learning and celebration at Blue Orkids, Putnoe! 🎃

We’re looking forward to exploring two special dates with the children this month:

✡️ 3rd October – Simchat Torah

We’ll be learning about this joyful Jewish celebration, exploring the importance of learning, sharing stories and enjoying music, movement and dancing together.

🎃 31st October – Halloween

We’ll be getting into the spooky spirit with costumes, creative pumpkin crafts and plenty of Halloween-themed fun! We’ll also talk about staying safe while enjoying trick-or-treating.

As always, our activities will give the children opportunities to learn, create, celebrate and have fun together. 💛

Communities & Celebrations at Putnoe! 🌟

Last week, our children explored the theme of communities and celebrations, discovering how we come together, care for one another and celebrate different traditions.

Toddlers celebrated Sukkot and the gathering of the harvest through fruit and vegetable painting. They explored different communities around us through props and role play, built houses for our community and developed their understanding of the people and places around them. They also focused on self-care and independence, practising cleaning their teeth and caring for the babies. Through playdough and other activities, they explored different emergency vehicles and the important roles they play within our community. 🚒🏠🍎

Preschoolers explored the harvest and its connection to the Jewish festival of Sukkot through a harvest-themed tuff tray. They learned about professionals within our community through doctor and dentist role play, while developing self-care routines and practising important independent skills. They also enjoyed painting and learning new football skills with our sports coach who comes each week. 🩺🎨⚽

✨ Through these experiences, the children developed their understanding of community, celebration, diversity, self-care and the different roles people have in our everyday lives.

Happy Sukkot! 🌿

Today we’re learning about Sukkot, a Jewish festival also known as the Festival of Booths or Festival of Tabernacles.

Through stories, creative activities and age appropriate conversations, the children are discovering some of the traditions connected with Sukkot and exploring ideas around togetherness, giving thanks and appreciating the world around us.

Celebrations like this provide wonderful opportunities for children to learn about different cultures and traditions, ask questions and develop a greater understanding of the diverse world we live in.

Wishing everyone celebrating Sukkot a happy and meaningful celebration. 🌿
