There was a wonderful atmosphere at the Year 6 Celebration Afternoon at the end of term, as students came together to reflect on their time in the Junior School and celebrate their many achievements.
The event provided an opportunity to look back on a memorable year, with highlights including learning about the Victorians, Cultures Week, the brilliant production of Annie Jr, and enjoying a range of exciting trips and visits.
Following the celebrations and presentation of awards, students were joined by friends and family for a picnic on the lawn outside the Christopher Fry Hall, making the most of the glorious sunshine.
A fitting way to mark the end of an important chapter, the afternoon was filled with happy memories, gratitude and excitement for the next stage of their Bedford Modern School journey.

On the penultimate day of term, the Junior School came together for its much-anticipated annual Charities Morning, raising funds while having plenty of fun along the way.
Students showed fantastic initiative and teamwork, organising, creating and running a wide variety of stalls and games for their peers to enjoy. From penalty shootout challenges and lucky dips, to bean bag throwing and much more, there was something for everyone. A particular highlight was the good-natured sponge throwing stall, which proved especially refreshing during the heatwave!
The event was a wonderful showcase of our students’ creativity, enthusiasm and generosity, with everyone coming together in support of a great cause. Well done to all involved for making it such a memorable and successful morning.

It's always fun to end the term on a high, and our squash players did just that with a special coaching session for some of our teachers!
Swapping roles for the afternoon, students took to the courts to teach the fundamentals of squash, sharing their skills, techniques and enthusiasm with a group of eager beginners. The session was followed by a series of fun-filled and energetically competitive matches, with plenty of rallies, laughter and impressive shot-making on display.
It was fantastic to see just how much our students have progressed over the year, not only in their playing ability but also in their confidence and communication skills. They proved to be excellent coaches, showing patience, encouragement and expertise as they introduced their teachers to the sport.

Before breaking up for the summer, our Junior School students had a fantastic time celebrating Break the Norms Day!
From wacky hairstyles and wonderfully creative outfits to plenty of enthusiasm and laughter, students embraced the opportunity to express themselves and challenge expectations. The day was a fun reminder that in a supportive and inclusive environment, there is no need to conform to societal norms. Instead, we can celebrate individuality, creativity, and the unique qualities that make each of us who we are.
It was a joyful end to the term and a wonderful celebration of confidence, self-expression, and having fun together.

Mathletics is a fun-filled series of maths challenges, facilitated by our Year 7 students for Year 6 students and supported by staff from both the Junior and Senior School Maths Departments. The event not only celebrates problem-solving and teamwork but also provides a valuable transition opportunity, helping our Year 6 students become familiar with Senior School staff and students ahead of their next step.
It was a fantastic hour of mathematical thinking, collaboration and friendly competition, with everyone embracing the challenges and enjoying the experience. Well done to all who took part!

On Tuesday 30 June, Year 6 set off on an 8km walk around the Willington Loop, taking in the beautiful scenery, local wildlife and historic landmarks along the way.
As the final trip of the academic year and their last outing together before moving into Year 7, the day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to reflect on their time in the Junior School, celebrate friendships and look ahead to the exciting journey to come.
Of course, no end-of-year adventure would be complete without a picnic and an ice cream or two!

The Junior School recently celebrated its annual Sports Day and it certainly didn't disappoint! Students from each of the four Houses – Kaye, Liddle, Poole and Taylor – showcased tremendous determination, teamwork and House spirit throughout the day.
Competitors took part in a range of events, including sprints, hurdles, distance races and relays, culminating in the now-famous House Relay finale. Going into the final event, the battle for first place between Liddle and Poole was incredibly close – and by the end, it was even closer. In a remarkable result not seen for more than two decades, both Houses finished tied at the top of the leaderboard on 812 points each.
Taylor secured third place with 728 points, while Kaye finished fourth with 686. Congratulations to all students for their fantastic performances and for making this year's Sports Day such a memorable occasion.
