Creative Days

Creative Days Art and craft workshops for children in Bedford and surrounding areas. Creative Days workshops are designed for children of all abilities.

Our projects cover a broad range of art and craft ideas. We work closely with the changing seasons, the world around us, different artists and cultures, using a wide range of materials and techniques. Creative Days is run by a fully qualified Art teacher, DBS checked. Our current workshop details:

Creative Days Art and Craft Workshops for Children (all running at The Place Theatre, Bedford)

Creative Fridays
4-5pm and 5.30-6.30pm for children of reception age to year 6

Creative Saturdays
9-10.30am for children of reception age to roughly year 4/5

11-12.30pm for children in years 4-6

We also run a workshop for children of secondary school age which runs from 11-12.30pm on Saturday mornings too. Creative Days is growing in popularity and in recent months we have experienced a huge surge in demand. It's wonderful to know just how much our community values the importance of creativity for our children, and as a small business we are doing what we can to accommodate this. All our weekly workshops are booked termly in advance. Unfortunately we are currently full unless your child is of secondary school age (11-16.) If you would like your child to be added to our waiting list please email me the following information and we will let you know asap if a space becomes available for them:

This session was an opportunity to meet and get to know new students on the course and discover the array of countries they're from. The project felt fitting and speaks for itself. Stunning and powerful outcomes. A really fab group whom I can't wait to work with again next month.

Dare I say it...it will soon be October and with it comes HALLOWEEN.  To help prepare and celebrate we're hosting a special SPOOKY workshop this half term.

We'll be delivering a selection of some much loved spooky activities for your child to delve into this spooky season.

This promises to be a fun (and not too scary) morning for your child to create some truly spooktacular things!

3D DRAWING

Our Teen group got to explore and experiment with a wide range of materials, tools and techniques on Saturday. Glue gun use is always popular and everyone got excited when they saw all the different colours available!

Drawing with glue, in water, is definitely an activity we keep for our older artists. Then there were hammers and nails, staple guns and an array of binding materials to get to grips with and use to produce a composition arranged in and around a bare frame. All in 90 minutes 🙌

I was really impressed with their immediate response, no time to sit back and worry, these pieces ooze so much creativety. Fantastic work and a great way to start our term. I'm pretty sure everyone went home buzzing 🤩

With many thanks to Access Art for the idea. We've done it before and we'll do it again!!🙏💡

Dexterity and determination 💪

Exploring a multitude of unwanted metal objects and learning how to manipulate wire to create these very unique suspended compositions. I can only imagine how cool the shadows they'll create will be in the right lighting.

Autumn term cometh 🍂

And we haven't aged abit since this photo was taken 3 years ago! 🤣

Liz and I will both be nervous this weekend, we always get nervous but we are also such a great support for each other, its been like this for years and works so well, what would I do without her?

This year has been a hard one and I'll admit it has sometimes felt like I've been treading water. Luckily I'm doing what I love so Creative Days gets the very best version of me. To help me on my merry way we've been delving into our archives and pulling out some fab projects we've been wanting to run again for some time and we can't wait to share these with the children. And we already have 3 visiting artists lined up too! Always very exciting.

So incase you were wondering, this is what we do and when we do it...

Bye bye Matilda 💕

Its the end of an era. As a little girl on the look out for a local art club Matilda was not only the reason I set up Creative Days, in recent years she has become part of our team. And today she's off to Uni to study Interior Architecture and we are going to miss her very much. Do check out Matildas profile, she draws exquisite portraits of people and pets and takes commissions too

Creative Days 2015

A throw back to over ten years ago when our days The Place Bedford were just beginning. You may spot some familiar faces here. Many I know will be starting university soon, and some will already be there or have begun their working life. I hope the memories we helped them make through art stay with them, especially when the going gets tough. Back then we only ran one workshop, now we run 6, and definitely no longer all girls!

Our Autumn term doesn't start until September 18th/19th giving everyone (including me) chance to ease into September. Taking on our children's emotions is hard especially at this time of year when they are going through so much change.

Consider our workshops when you are ready, they will provide a happy and safe place to help your child feel grounded, included, accepted and thrive through the joy of creating. Your child may already know how much they enjoy making art or they may be looking for something new. Our workshops are for everybody and we'd love to welcome your child along. You can email or call us anytime. There's no pressure and a trial session can be arranged.

Wild Canvas Weeks 3&4

More of the same but always abit different. Our youngest artist yet on the artwall, another private workshop with tinies, teens and adults all together, more and more sunflowers, painting in the rain, families visiting again and again, more magical t shirts, wind wands and peace doves and sleepy Sunday mornings making collages and wax rubbings, the joy of watching everyone and anyone joining together to create.

My Wild Canvas. I didn't make the yoga tent this year but had the best massage (thank you Sherene) more swims in the river and paddleboarding. I discovered Picantes and danced by the fire.

What a show this amazing team put on which included my own son, making it feel even more special. Good times, every day a winner. Summertime memories like no other, this was the place to be. Thank you for having me 🙏

Wild Canvas weeks 1 & 2

Here's a snap shot of my last two weekends Wild Canvas Camping

Felt pictures, Wind wands, Magic Ts, Art Wall, Peace Doves, Canvas painting, Collage, Wax rubbings, Circular weaving.

And this weekend I do it all over again.

It's been busy, and hot, but the vibe is perfect. This is like a mini festival where kids can't get lost. Everything about Wild Canvas is beautiful. If you like camping, cool music and activities with an earthy feel look no further.
