I"ll be chatting with Ste Greenall tomorrow from Black Cat Radio discussing road memorials.
Should they be allowed? Is it only right to allow families & friends an opportunity to grieve in a way that helps them?
I'd love to hear your thoughts

It's good to read about the recent changes by ACAS regarding bereavement leave for child and stillbirth loss.
It also offers advice for companies to support their employees for covid-related bereavements.

It was great to be in the studio chatting on Black Cat radio about all things coaching ... sometimes careers, sometimes bereavement ...
Before I was on air, a listener had called in and raised the topic of roadside memorials which we briefly discussed but promised to cover that more fully next time. Hopefully, over the next few weeks we can collect some feedback about this topic and share that with listeners.
What do you think? Do you feel roadside memorials can provide comfort or just make it more painful for the grieving family?

The reality of grief and footprints of the departed ... a reminder that grief is never linear
As a widow, I know the strangeness of grief and that ghosts come in many forms | Kat Lister An old voicemail or credit card can conjure memories of my husband, blurring the line between ‘now’ and ‘then’, says author Kat Lister

Anyone seen this?
I've watched the whole three series and am a huge Ricky Gervais fan. I love how he's shown grief in all its facets and in particular, the journey of hopelessness to hope. It's also great that he's so blatantly tackled the taboo subject of death.
However, what ruined it for me is that the rawness of his pain and deep empathy that we have with him as the bereaved widower is tainted by some weak, crass characters he created just to get a few cheap laughs. For sure, it wouldn't it black comedy if there wasn't any humour in it, but personally, I thought some of it was really quite tasteless and cringey.
Great thought-provoking, last scene though in Series 3 as he just fades out to show that life goes on without us ...
After Life season 3 release date: Cast, trailer and latest news on Ricky Gervais Netflix series Ricky Gervais returns for a third and final season of Netflix comedy series After Life.
I've written so much about loss over the past few years and after having just spoken to an Emergency Consultant forced to leave her job from not wanting the vaccination, I felt the huge weight of her grief. As we know, grief isn't just bereavement, it encompasses all aspects of significant loss.
Medicine has been her life, her passion, it's the only work she's ever known, being on the cutting edge of saving patients' lives and she is a highly capable, talented doctor. And now, she has no idea what she is going to do with the rest of her life or what her purpose might now be.
Whilst I don't agree with the mandate, that's not the reason for this post.
It's about recognising the huge tidal wave of anticipatory grief that's about to come in the NHS after many thousands are forced to leave the job they love where they feel they are truly making a difference to patients' lives. It's very hard to rival that feeling in other roles.
For that, I am deeply sorry

Currently the law allows two weeks' paid leave for the loss of a child but this really should be available to anyone who has lost a close family member
Bereavement leave campaign: Scottish MP urges UK government to change law to guarantee workers paid time off after death of a loved one Employers must give time off for parents who lose a child but there have been calls for this to be extended to cover the deaths of partners and other close relatives. SNP member Patricia Gibson's Bereavement Pay and Leave Bill is scheduled for its second reading in March.

This week marks the beginning of National Grief Awareness Week. Of course, for those of us who are bereaved, we know that grief cannot be contained into any form of time, but maybe just remember to do something this week that helps you to feel a little better 💜
And if you are aware of someone who may be grieving, go out of your way to check in on them, make a kind gesture ... it often means so much when others know that you are thinking of them
National Grief Awareness Week The bereaved often have to hide their grief from others. Sometimes it is from their friends and family as they do not want to burden them. Sometimes it is from their colleagues at work. Please look out for them, check they are okay, in the early days and ongoing. They may look alright, they may be g...

Thinking of my lovely mum today, who left us 11 years ago now ... I remember this day well when this photo was taken, she loved her new grandson, so sad she didn't get to see him grow up ...
But I know she's still with us somehow ❤️
