‎We were delighted to welcome Mrs. Louise Gale, Materials Specialist at Rolls-Royce, to speak with our KS3 pupils about her career in engineering.

Mrs. Gale shared insights into her role developing materials for aircraft engines, helping pupils make real-world connections between their Chemistry and Physics lessons and the engineering challenges of creating components that can perform safely under extreme conditions.

Pupils also learned about the future of engineering and sustainability, exploring how innovative thinking will be essential in developing greener technologies and protecting our planet. Mrs Gale spoke about her own career journey, including her ten years at Rolls-Royce, as well as the different pathways into engineering, from university degrees to apprenticeships that allow young people to earn while they learn.

Thank you to Mrs. Gale for taking the time to share her experiences and inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and innovators.

This week, the Junior School celebrated its Harvest Festival. We were delighted to welcome representatives from the local food bank as we donated food generously brought in by our pupils. The children also took turns performing harvest songs they had learned during their music lessons, showcasing their confidence and enthusiasm. It was a wonderful celebration of community, generosity, and the spirit of harvest.

Our youngest pupils continued their Tractor Ted Talk series with another wonderful talk from Senior School pupils Andrew, Hannah and Poppy who are members of Woburn Young Farmers. They discussed the early harvest in the UK, what crops we grow and what food items they can become. After discussing what the Red Tractor logo means on food packaging, the star of the show was the red Massey Ferguson tractor on the playground and the different crops to look at. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Macleod and Mrs Essex for their help with putting on a very memorable afternoon for our pupils.

Some of our senior pupils had the privilege of hearing Dr Alex Aleksic, Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Clinical Director for Oncology, deliver a brilliant lunchtime careers talk on the fascinating world of oncology and the exciting opportunities within medicine and cancer research.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Aleksic for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his expertise, experiences, and insights with our pupils. His engaging presentation was both inspiring and thought-provoking, and we are grateful for the opportunity he provided our pupils to learn more about careers where science truly meets humanity.

Year 10 business studies pupils have been exploring their new curriculum by learning about the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of business. They have brought their learning to life through a range of creative posters, demonstrating both their understanding of the sectors and the important contribution they make to the economy.

It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm and creativity from the outset. We are incredibly proud of the effort and engagement they have shown already.
We look forward to seeing their knowledge and confidence continue to grow throughout their GCSE course.
