🌿 Outdoor adventures at Inn Farm 🌿

One of the things we love most about Inn Farm is the incredible amount of outdoor space our children have to explore, play and learn in every day. 💚

Our courtyard is available to children across all of our rooms, providing another wonderful space for outdoor play, exploration and activities throughout the day.

And it doesn’t stop there! 🌳 Alongside our courtyard, the children have access to three additional outdoor areas, giving them plenty of opportunities to enjoy fresh air, develop their physical skills, investigate the natural world and, of course, have lots of fun!

Being surrounded by countryside is another very special part of life at Inn Farm. 🥾🌾 With footpaths right on our doorstep, we regularly take the children out for walks where they can discover the changing seasons, spot wildlife, explore their local environment and experience learning beyond the nursery.

From courtyard play and garden adventures to countryside walks, we believe some of the very best learning happens outdoors. 🌱🐞☀️

Little hands, big adventures in our Baby Room! 🐞

Our Baby Room is a warm, nurturing and engaging space, specially designed for our littlest learners from 6 weeks to around 14–16 months.

We know that no two babies develop in exactly the same way, which is why everything we do is centred around each child’s individual needs, interests and stage of development. Our environment and activities are thoughtfully planned around the different areas of learning, giving every baby plenty of opportunities to explore, discover and develop at their own pace. ✨

And being the smallest members of our nursery certainly doesn’t mean missing out! Our babies are encouraged to get stuck into nursery life, from cooking and gardening to messy play, sensory exploration, music, movement and plenty of outdoor adventures. 🌱🎨🥣

With lots of cuddles, encouragement and opportunities to explore along the way, we aim to create a home-from-home where our babies feel happy, secure and confident enough to discover the world around them. 💛

🌈 Learning through colour & sensory play 🌈

Sensory play doesn’t need to be complicated! Using colourful fabrics alongside familiar, everyday objects gives children the opportunity to explore, investigate and make connections through play.

Exploring different colours, textures, shapes and objects can help children to:

🎨 Develop colour recognition and early vocabulary
✋ Explore different textures through touch
👀 Strengthen visual awareness and observation
🧠 Encourage curiosity, problem-solving and independent thinking
🗣️ Support communication as we name and describe what we find
🌟 Build confidence through open-ended, child-led exploration

Simple everyday objects can create wonderful learning opportunities — encouraging children to touch, sort, match, discover and explore at their own pace.

🌱 What does EYFS actually mean?

If you’ve ever heard the term EYFS and wondered what it is, here’s a quick explanation…

EYFS stands for Early Years Foundation Stage – the framework that guides how children learn, develop and grow from birth to 5 years old.

Dragonflies have been enjoying learning about the Winter Olympics last week and they were lucky enough that two Olympians visited last week and the children were able to hold their gold and bronze medals. Thank you Tom M who was a part of 8s rowing in the Toyko 2020 and Davina W who was a part of 4s rowing in Paris 2024! 🥇🥈🥉

Active play is such an important part of our ethos and routine at Inn Farm and is encouraged everyday for all of our children at Inn Farm!

🎄✨ Christmas cheer is officially underway! Our children have been busy getting into the festive spirit, decorating the trees with creativity, colour, and lots of excitement. From shiny baubles to tinsel galore, every tree tells its own little story — and we’re loving every moment of it. 🎅🎨🎁
