Creative Industries Symposium
Delighted to be hosting our Creative Industries Symposium for The Bedford College Group today at The Bedford Sixth Form bringing together educators and employers to shape the future of creative curriculum.
Huge thanks to Creative UK and the brilliant Chris Slesser for helping us put this programme together, sharing invaluable insight on the macro policy landscape and the current and future skills needs shaping the Creative & Cultural Industries.
I'm Robin Webber-Jones, Executive Director of Curriculum at The Bedford College Group, and I'll be chairing our 10am panel, State of the Nation, alongside a fantastic line-up of employers sharing their perspectives on trends and developments across the sector. Huge thanks to our panellists for giving up their time:
πΉ Kylie Bryant, Senior Producer, CoStar National Lab
πΉ STUART GLOVER, Founder & Executive Director, Dancebox
πΉ Verity Davies (Assoc CIPD), Emerging Talent and Community Engagement Manager, Universal Destinations & Experiences
Looking forward to some really rich curriculum conversations as our teams get into breakout discussions this morning, exploring where our strengths are, where the opportunities for collaboration lie, and what we can take forward into our curriculum planning.

Celebrating the success of our Supported Interns π
Congratulations to the four incredible young people who have successfully completed their Supported Internships, celebrating their achievements at a graduation ceremony held at The Bedford Sixth Form.
Delivered in partnership with Bedford Borough Council, our Supported Internship programme helps young people with autism and/or learning disabilities develop the skills, confidence and experience they need to move into employment.
Throughout the year, our interns have completed meaningful work placements with local employers while also developing their employability skills through tailored sessions delivered by colleagues from The Bedford College Group.
It was a pleasure to welcome Mayor of Bedford, Tom Wootton, alongside Chris Morris, Service Director for Education, SEND & Schools, to present certificates and celebrate the achievements of Sophie, Jonah, Ewan and Cosmo with their families.
We're incredibly proud of everything our interns have accomplished and wish them every success as they take the next step in their careers. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, determination and the power of partnership working.
A huge thank you to Bedford Borough Council, our employer partners and everyone who has supported the programme throughout the year.

Bedford Giving Partnership Gives Students a Voice in Community Funding
At The Bedford College Group, we're proud to work alongside Bedford Giving to provide our students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and empower them to make a real impact in their communities.
Last month, students from Bedford College and The Bedford Sixth Form took part in Bedford Giving's latest Participatory Grantmaking Panel, where they were entrusted with the responsibility of awarding Β£87,000 in funding to charitable projects supporting young people across Bedford Borough.
As one student reflected:
"Before the panel I wasn't involved in the community and wasn't aware of the challenges it faced. But now I feel more empowered and confident that being young doesn't mean you can't make big decisions in the community."
A huge thank you to Bedford Giving for creating such an inspiring initiative and for continuing to invest in the voices of young people.

π° Our students are making headlines!
A huge congratulations to one of our Sixth Form students, whose article has been published by the Bedford Independent, exploring young people's views on the proposed East West Rail project.
The article highlights what matters most to young Bedfordians, from shorter travel times and affordability to environmental concerns, demonstrating the importance of giving the next generation a voice on decisions that will shape their future.
We're incredibly proud to see our students developing their journalism skills, tackling real-world issues and contributing to conversations that matter in our local community.
