It was wonderful to welcome hundreds of parents and grandparents to our Open House this morning. There was such a great buzz around the school, with many visitors reliving their school days the BGS way. ๐Ÿ’œ

Families enjoyed student-guided tours of both the Senior and Junior School sites, met staff from across the school and saw the diverse range of talents our students showcase in and outside the classroom.

It was also lovely to celebrate the important role grandparents play in our studentsโ€™ lives.

We are looking forward to welcoming more families to our Open Morning this Saturday 10th October. Registration opens at 9:40am, with talks beginning at 10:00am.

Come and discover BGS: Where Girls Soar.

We are delighted to partner with Bedford Hockey Club for the 2026/27 season.

The partnership builds on a shared sporting heritage and long-standing relationship between BGS and the Club. It will help strengthen opportunities for students to continue playing and developing through hockey at club level beyond school.

Throughout the year, BGS will also support junior and county hockey events, creating opportunities for students to volunteer, umpire and get involved with younger players across Bedfordshire.

Hear from one of our newest alumnae, former Head Girl, Nawaal Qazi, who just left BGS this summer.

Full of praise for her BGS experience, Nawaal valued the encouragement she received at school. She enjoyed expressing herself through debate and campaigning, while being surrounded by ambitious young women in Sixth Form. She is looking forward to continuing this support through the alumnae community.

We wish Nawaal every success for the future as she embarks on her Law degree at the University of Oxford.

Come and meet the team at our BGS Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 5th November 2026 and experience our bright, vibrant environment for you and your daughter. Book here: https://tinyurl.com/573ymp6b

The BGS community is incredibly proud of our Head of Swimming and Triathlon, Mr Castro, following his outstanding results at the 2026 World Triathlon Age-Group Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.

He won bronze in the Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run), his 18th international medal, and silver with Great Britainโ€™s Mixed Relay team (160โ€“199 age group), anchoring the final leg to bring the team home in second place for his 19th international medal.

Congratulations, Mr Castro - an amazing achievement on the world stage!

The journey beyond BGS has begun for our 2026 leavers, many of whom are heading to or already settling into amazing destinations across the country.

Birmingham is the most popular destination, welcoming six students. Exeter welcomed five, Newcastle welcomed four, and Bristol, Leeds and Nottingham each welcomed three. Four students have gained places at Oxbridge: three at the University of Oxford and one at the University of Cambridge. Other destinations include Bath, Durham, Edinburgh, Kingโ€™s College London, Lancaster, Sheffield and UCL.

We are proud of our leaversโ€™ achievements and excited to see where their journeys take them next.

Congratulations to International Baccalaureate Upper Sixth student Zaynab, who has become the first BGS student to achieve a Gold Youth STEMM Award! ๐Ÿ”ฌ ๐Ÿฅ‡

Over three years, Zaynab completed 150 hours of activities spanning science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine. Highlights included a visit to CERN and helping younger
pupils explore science for themselves.

Congratulations, Zaynab.

Hear from Alice Pennington, who left BGS in 2022 to study Business Psychology at the University of Kent, graduating with a First this summer and now building a career in marketing and content creation.

Alice reflects on Sixth Form as a period of real change: the freedom, social space, small classes and positive relationships with the Sixth Form team created a supportive environment and strong sense of self-belief that left her ready for what lay ahead. She used the Careers department at school and, while at university, tapped into The Alumnae to gain work experience and grow her professional network.

Alongside her studies, Alice enjoyed sport, speech and drama, singing and piano. A welcome balance around her academic work.

Huge congratulations to Kate Axford (2017), who recently competed in the star-studded, all-female Athlos London event at StoneX Stadium. ๐Ÿซถ

In an invite-only meet featuring 42 athletes and a sold-out crowd, Kate raced in a world-class womenโ€™s mile alongside international stars including Georgia Hunter Bell, Jessica Hull, Nikki Hiltz, Dorcus Ewoi and Klaudia Kazimierska. She finished sixth in 4:26.96 - a personal best.

Even more impressive: this comes just months after foot surgery in January, a true testament to her resilience and love of the sport.

Weโ€™re incredibly proud to see a BGS alumna competing on the world stage and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
