A supportive space to improve confidence, overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with life. We are Stable and Wild.

The Seeds of Change ( now trading as Stable & Wild), offer a range of courses using horses, small animals and nature to support individuals to overcome barriers to learning and progressing in life. We provide a sanctuary, away from tradition, constraints and distractions, which offers both stability and freedom.

Whatever is on that piece of paper today β€” it does not define you or your future.

πŸ„If you got the results you hoped for, congratulations.

🌱If things didn't go to plan, take a breath.

And if you're still thinking β€œI honestly don't know what I want to do next” β€” that's okay too.

There isn't one route to a successful future.

At Stable & Wild, we create positive pathways for young people through animals, nature, practical learning and therapeutic support.

We currently offer:

🐾 CITY & GUILDS ANIMAL CAR LEVEL 1
Practical, hands-on learning for young people who enjoy working with animals and want to develop skills in a supportive environment.

🌱 KINGS TRUST LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATES AND LEVEL 2 DIPLOMAS
Helping young people develop confidence, essential life skills, employability skills and the tools they need for their next step.

🐴 THERAPEUTIC SESSIONS
Using our unique farm and natural environment, alongside animals, to support wellbeing, confidence and emotional resilience.

Learning doesn't have to happen in a classroom to be meaningful.

If you're looking for an alternative route, a fresh start, or simply want to find out what's possible, talk to Stable & Wild.

We have had quite a few new followers recently - β€œthank you!”

So I thought it might be worth a recap about who we are, what we stand for and why I hope you will stay with us, follow our journey and that of the young people we support.

If you like our content then please comment, ask questions or share, because that’s how we can raise awareness of what’s possible for young people, through the support of animals and nature 🌳

Building a community who advocate for children and families who find the education system does not fit their needs is important.

So is signposting those individuals towards solutions that have a lasting impact - we hope we are one of those solutions.

Thanks for joining us 😊

What is the 1 thing that all of us can do to support a child who is struggling?
🐴
If there was 1 thing that I could change that I believe would have the biggest impact on young people who are struggling, it would be to look behind the behaviour.
πŸ¦‹
Be curious, take a moment to consider β€œwhy?”
πŸ¦‰
Why might a child be behaving in that way?
πŸ¦†
When we do that, it means we approach a situation with empathy. A desire to understand, rather than to judge and when that happens we create emotional safety, trust and positive intention.
🐞
All of those mindsets are more likely to bring understanding and solutions than judgement or reprimand ever will.
πŸ“
Have you ever seen behaviour differently once you understood what was behind it?

It’s the summer holidays and although we don’t have many young people attending our provision, it doesn’t mean our work stops.
🐢
I’ve escaped to the coast for a few days, but as anyone who runs a small business knows, that means being creative with my time
🐢
An early morning beach walk with my dogs sets me up for a day of zoom calls, phone interviews and planning our September timetable.
🌊
I haven’t quite mastered the art of working from the beach, but if anyone has any tips about how to keep the sand out of my lap top, I’m all ears!!!

We had a visitor πŸ₯³β€¦β€¦

A young person who attended our provision and left last year, having completed a Kings Trust qualification and secured a place in college.
πŸ’ͺ
It’s always so lovely to hear how our leavers are getting on and when they actually come back to tell us in person , it’s great 😌
πŸ’ͺ
Here’s an excerpt of her conversation with Laura (one of our senior coaches ). We’ll publish some other parts of their conversation over the next few days.
πŸ’ͺ
Please listen along and if any of her story resonates with a young person you know, why not get in touch to find out how we might help? 😊
πŸ‘
In the meantime, it’s so lovely to hear her reflections and also how brilliantly she has done .

Applications are ✨✨NOW OPEN ✨✨
For our autumn term Bursary.
πŸ’š
There has never been a been a time where the kind of support that we provide has been so needed.
πŸ’š
And yet for many children, parents and carers it has never been so difficult to access.
πŸ’š
When we started our bursary 3 years ago we had no idea what a difference it would make.
πŸ’š
3 years on we are incredibly proud to have supported some amazing young people who, through the help of our coaches and the animals have developed strategies to cope with their challenges and move forward with their lives.
πŸ’š
Just as a reminder, the bursary is for young people aged 5-25 who DO NOT have or are not in the process of obtaining an EHCP.
This is for the many 100’s who would not even qualify, but desperately need support now.
πŸ’š
Examples would be those who
βœ… have suffered a bereavement
βœ… have a sibling or family member who has high or additional needs
βœ… is post 16 and struggling to remain in education or training
βœ… family breakdown
And a whole raft of other needs which impact their life chances if unsupported.
πŸ’š
Please head to our website for full details and an application form.

Closing date is Friday 14th August 2026.

The end of term and it’s time to celebrate πŸŽ‰
Our Kings Trust Learners started the year as a group of individuals. They have become a close, self supporting team, with friendships that will last way beyond their time with us.
πŸ‘
Some were facing huge barriers to learning and most had not been able to work or socialise with others for a long time.
πŸ’ͺ
Throughout the year they didn’t just work on an academic qualification, they also worked on themselves.
πŸŽ‰
It has been an incredible and sometimes emotional journey, but at the end of term here they all are…
πŸ’ͺ
Each one should be incredibly proud of their progress, their achievements and their confidence to approach the next stage in their life believing in themselves.
πŸŽ‰
Whether that’s college, our City and Guilds Animal Care course or a blended curriculum, we wish them all the best.

Please have your say if you are a parent or carer impacted by changes in SEN support. Collective voices often have more impact.

SEND Reform continues to develop nationally and locally.

BBPCF is actively involved in local discussions, ensuring that the voices of Bedford Borough parent carers are represented throughout this work.

As changes continue, we'll be looking for families to share their lived experiences and help shape future developments.

If you'd like to contribute to SEND Reform conversations, we'd love to hear from you.

Your voice really can make a difference.
