🌱🌻 Gardening Week at Blue Orkids Wootton Nursery! 🌻🌱

What a wonderful week we’ve had exploring the world of gardening! Our little gardeners have been busy getting their hands messy, discovering how plants grow and learning how we can care for our environment. 🪴👩🌾

We’ve been planting seeds, watering plants, exploring soil, looking closely at flowers and leaves, and learning about the different things plants need to grow. The children have loved getting involved in hands-on activities, developing their curiosity and understanding of the natural world. 🌱💧☀️

Along the way, we’ve been building our vocabulary and using words such as seed, soil, roots, stem, leaf, flower, grow and water. We’ve also been developing our fine motor skills, teamwork, communication and independence as we worked together to care for our plants. 🌼

There has been lots of excitement as the children watched their seeds and plants change, encouraging them to observe, ask questions, make predictions and talk about what they notice.

A big well done to our little gardeners for all their hard work this week! 🌻💚👩🌾

🐞🦋 MINIBEAST WEEK AT BLUE ORKIDS WOOTTON! 🐛🐝

What a wonderful week we’ve had exploring the fascinating world of minibeasts! 🌿🔍

The children have been busy hunting for minibeasts in our outdoor areas, using magnifying glasses to take a closer look and talking about what they found. We’ve explored different insects and bugs through stories, songs, creative activities, messy play and lots of hands-on learning. 🐌🐜🕷️

We’ve been developing our vocabulary, counting and sorting minibeasts, creating our own creepy-crawly masterpieces and learning about where minibeasts live and why they are important to our environment. 🌱🌎

There have been plenty of opportunities to get curious, ask questions, work together and learn through play - with lots of “Wow, look at that!” moments along the way! 🐛💚

Our little travellers have been busy exploring the world through play, stories, music, creativity and lots of imagination! 🌎✨

We’ve been learning all about different places around the world and talking about the different ways we can travel. 🚗🚌🚂✈️🚢

The children have enjoyed: 🗺️ Looking at maps and talking about different countries 🎫 Making passports and travel tickets ✈️ Playing in our very own airport and going on imaginary journeys 🎨 Creating travel-themed pictures and crafts 📚 Enjoying stories about adventures and travelling 🌍

Talking about different countries, places and cultures 🎭 Using their imaginations in lots of exciting travel-themed role play! Our role-play areas have been full of pilots, passengers, explorers and holidaymakers! 👩✈️👨✈️🧳✈️

Travel Week has been a lovely way to support the children’s learning while having lots of fun. We’ve been developing language, confidence, imagination, creativity and our understanding of the world around us. 🌎💕

We’ve loved hearing all of the children’s ideas and watching their imaginations take them on amazing adventures! 🌟

What a wonderful and exciting week we’ve had celebrating World Food Week last week! 🌍🥕🍓🍜

Our little explorers have been busy discovering, tasting and learning all about food from different cultures and countries around the world. 🌎✈️👩🍳

Throughout the week, the children have had lots of opportunities to:

👀 Explore different foods, ingredients, colours, shapes and textures
👃 Use their senses to smell and investigate new ingredients 👅 Taste and talk about different flavours
🥣 Get involved in preparing and making food
🌍 Learn about foods that are enjoyed in different countries and cultures
👨👩👧👦 Share ideas about the foods we eat at home with our families
🎨 Get creative with food-themed activities, crafts and artwork
📚 Enjoy stories and conversations linked to food, families and different cultures

It has been fantastic to see the children’s curiosity, confidence and enthusiasm as they explored foods they may not have seen or tried before. Some were very brave with their tasting, while others preferred to investigate through looking, touching and smelling, and that’s absolutely fine! 💕🙌

We’ve been encouraging the children to talk about their likes and dislikes, make choices, try new things when they feel comfortable and celebrate the wonderful variety of food and cultures around us. 🌈🌍

World Food Week has provided so many opportunities for learning through play, from developing language and communication 🗣️, to building independence and confidence 💪, exploring sensory experiences 🖐️, learning about healthy choices 🍎🥦 and developing an understanding and appreciation of the diverse world we live in. 🌎💛 🌍

Books are such an important part of our nursery day! ❤️📖

They help children to learn, explore, imagine and discover all while having lots of fun! Sharing stories with children helps to develop:

🗣️ Communication & Language – building vocabulary, listening skills and confidence when talking.
🧠 Learning & Understanding – introducing children to new ideas, people, places and experiences.
🌈 Imagination & Creativity – stories take us on wonderful adventures and encourage children to use their imaginations.
