🌻🌱 Our Sunflowers & Veggie Patch! 🥕🍅

There’s nothing quite like watching something grow - and here at Blue Orkids Wootton, our little gardeners have been busy getting their hands dirty! 👩🌾👨🌾💚

Our sunflowers and veggie patch have been growing beautifully, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come! 🌻✨

Just look at our sunflowers now…they’re reaching an incredible 2 metres tall! 😮🌻

They’ve certainly been making their way towards the sunshine and have become quite the stars of our outdoor space! The children have loved being involved in caring for our plants - planting, watering, watching, waiting and wondering what might appear next. 🌱💦

It’s been a wonderful opportunity to learn about how plants grow and what they need to thrive, while developing a real sense of care, responsibility and patience. Our veggie patch has been just as exciting! 🥕🥬🌿

We’ve been watching our vegetables grow from tiny seeds and seedlings into healthy plants, discovering that growing our own food takes time, teamwork and lots of TLC! ❤️

There have been plenty of opportunities for the children to get hands-on, explore nature and see first-hand where some of our food comes from. 🌍🌱

We’re looking forward to seeing what our garden produces next…and, of course, we’ll be keeping a close eye on those giant sunflowers! 🌻👀

Little hands, big growth and lots of green-fingered fun! 💚🌱🌻

🍽️ Keeping mealtimes safe is something we take seriously.

As part of our team development day, two of our fantastic chefs shared their knowledge around safer eating, allergies and our colour-coded approach to plates and food.

It was a valuable opportunity for our wider team to build their understanding of why consistent procedures are so important when caring for children with allergies and dietary requirements.

By bringing our chefs and childcare teams together, we can share knowledge, ask questions and make sure that safe practices are understood across all six of our sites.

It’s all part of our commitment to continually developing our skills, learning together and putting children’s wellbeing at the heart of what we do. 💛

✡️ Celebrating Simchat Torah – 3rd October ✡️

This October, we’ll be learning about Simchat Torah, a joyful Jewish celebration marking the completion of the annual cycle of Torah readings and the beginning of a new one.

We’ll introduce the children to the celebration through stories, music, movement and dancing, helping them explore the joy of learning and celebrating together. 💃🎶📚

It’s a lovely opportunity to encourage curiosity about different cultures and traditions, while creating a fun and welcoming learning experience for everyone. 💛

“Mummy, I had the BEST day!”

Honestly, is there anything better to hear at pick up? 💙

At Blue Orkids Wootton, we want children to feel happy, secure and excited to come through the door each morning.

With dedicated spaces for babies, toddlers and pre schoolers, children can learn and grow alongside others at a similar stage of development, while still being supported as the individual little person they are.

There’s plenty of time for outdoor play too, from exploring nature and going on local walks to running, climbing, creating obstacle courses and simply having space to be children.

And yes, there may occasionally be some very muddy trousers involved. We consider that a sign of a good day. 😉

We currently have spaces available across our age groups, so if you're considering your child's next step, we'd love you to come and meet us.

✨ One team, six sites, one shared commitment to excellence.

At The Orkids Group, we believe that when our teams come together, we all learn from one another.

Our recent team development day brought together our Director, Julia Maynard, alongside our senior team from across all six of our sites. It was a brilliant opportunity to connect, share experiences, celebrate the knowledge within our teams and look at how we can continue developing together.

With so much experience across The Orkids Group, bringing everyone together means we can share ideas, learn from different perspectives and strengthen the skills that support our nurseries every day.

We’re proud of the people behind The Orkids Group and the knowledge, passion and care they bring to their roles. 💛

🍂 October is full of fun, learning and celebration at Blue Orkids, Wootton! 🎃

We’re looking forward to exploring two special dates with the children this month:

✡️ 3rd October – Simchat Torah

We’ll be learning about this joyful Jewish celebration, exploring the importance of learning, sharing stories and enjoying music, movement and dancing together.

🎃 31st October – Halloween

We’ll be getting into the spooky spirit with costumes, creative pumpkin crafts and plenty of Halloween-themed fun! We’ll also talk about staying safe while enjoying trick-or-treating.

As always, our activities will give the children opportunities to learn, create, celebrate and have fun together. 💛

Keep an eye out for some photos of our October activities!

Happy Sukkot! 🌿

Today we’re learning about Sukkot, a Jewish festival also known as the Festival of Booths or Festival of Tabernacles.

Through stories, creative activities and age appropriate conversations, the children are discovering some of the traditions connected with Sukkot and exploring ideas around togetherness, giving thanks and appreciating the world around us.

Celebrations like this provide wonderful opportunities for children to learn about different cultures and traditions, ask questions and develop a greater understanding of the diverse world we live in.

Wishing everyone celebrating Sukkot a happy and meaningful celebration. 🌿
