⚽🍌 Superstar Sports Football Fun with Coach Nick! 🍌⚽

What a fantastic football session we had at Stewartby Pre-School today with our Superstar Sports coach, Coach Nick! 🌟

Coach Nick certainly put our listening ears, watching eyes and football skills to the test, and we had so much fun along the way! 😍

We started with a warm-up, where we even got to call Coach Nick a BANANA! 🍌😂 That certainly got everyone giggling!

Next, it was time to put our listening and attention skills into action. We walked around the coloured cones and had to listen carefully for Coach Nick to shout out a colour before running as quickly as we could to find the matching cones. 🚦🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Then it was time to wake up those sleeping footballs! ⚽💤 We practised our dribbling skills, carefully controlling the ball with our feet as we made our way towards the cones. Once there, we had to place our football on top of a cone and then practise kicking it off again! What a challenge!

Our session was packed full of fun, laughter and learning, but there was lots of important development happening too!

🌟 Learning through play:
⚽ Developing gross motor skills, balance and coordination.
⚽ Building football skills, including kicking, dribbling and ball control.
⚽ Strengthening listening, attention and concentration.
⚽ Learning to follow instructions and respond to verbal cues.
⚽ Developing spatial awareness and body control.

⚽ Building physical strength, agility and confidence through active play.

We are so proud of our little footballers! Lots of enthusiasm, big smiles and some fantastic listening today. Keep up the brilliant work, everyone! ❤️

🌾🎶 Shake, Rattle & Roll at Stewartby Pre-School! 🎶🌾

Our Harvest Week fun continued today with a little music, creativity and lots of chick pea shaking! 🥁💛

The children became little musical instrument makers as we created our very own Harvest Shakers!

We started by decorating paper plates using a variety of different materials, colours and textures, making each shaker completely unique. Once our designs were finished, we carefully folded our plates in half and, with a little adult help, stapled around the edges, leaving a small opening for our very special filling… CHICK PEAS! 😍

We carefully added our chick peas before sealing the final gap, and hey presto… we had created our very own musical instruments!

But the real fun was yet to come! We put our shakers to the test, exploring the different sounds they made and then joined together for a wonderful musical session, shaking, rattling and keeping our very own Harvest beat! 🎵👏
So much learning hidden in all that fun! ❤️
🌟 Developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and hand strength through decorating and filling.
🌟 Exploring different materials, textures, sounds and cause and effect.
🌟 Supporting creativity, imagination and self-expression.
🌟 Developing listening, attention and concentration skills.
🌟 Exploring rhythm, beat and early musical awareness.
🌟 Building confidence, turn-taking and a lovely sense of togetherness as we made music as a group.
Who knew a paper plate and a handful of chick peas could create so much fun and learning?

🐷🌽🚜 Down on the Farm at Stewartby Pre-School! 🚜🌽🐮

Today we have been busy little farmers as we explored our very own farm adventure! 🌾

🐷 We had a muddy rescue mission, helping our poor little piggies escape from the muddy field!
🌽 We worked together to move the corn from the field into storage, thinking about how farmers collect and store crops.
🌱 We got busy planting and collecting crops, exploring how food grows and what plants need to help them thrive.
🐄 And of course, after all that farm work, our very dirty animals needed a good wash and scrub! 🧽💦

There was so much learning happening through our play! We were developing our communication and language as we talked about farm animals, crops and what farmers do, while building our understanding of the world by exploring where our food comes from and how it is grown.

Our busy farmers were also developing physical skills, coordination, problem-solving, teamwork and social skills as they transported, planted, collected, rescued and cleaned. 💪🧠🤝

Most importantly… we had LOTS of fun learning through play! ❤️🌾🐷

🎶✨ What a musical way to start our week at Stewartby Pre-School! ✨🎶

Mr Piccolo was back with another fantastic Music & Movement session, and today we became little musicians, exploring a whole world of different instruments! 🎺🥁🎻

We discovered which musical family different instruments belong to and talked about how they are played some are tapped, some shaken, some blown and some even need strings! 🎵👀

Then it was time to join in with a super fun “Getting Ready” song, followed by the much loved Musical Mash! 💃🕺🎶 There were lots of singing, moving, listening and copying actions along the way.

And then came a very special surprise… 👀🐍🐑

We met Snaky Dave the sock puppet and Gibson the Lamb, who joined us for their very own song! What a fabulous way to finish our musical afternoon 🥰🎵

🌾🍎 HARVEST TIME AT STEWARTBY PRE-SCHOOL! 🍎🌾

This week we are getting stuck into the wonderful world of Harvest Festival and discovering how harvest is celebrated by different cultures and communities around the world! 🌍🌽

We will be exploring where our food comes from and learning about the journey from seed 🌱 to plate 🍽️. We will be taking a trip to the farm through our imaginations, discovering how crops are grown and even having a go at moving seeds using our very own farm machinery! 🚜

And of course, no Stewartby adventure would be complete without getting creative! 🎨🥄 We will be making our own magical musical instruments using paper plates and chickpeas, exploring rhythm, sound and movement as we make music together. 🎶

🌱 What are we learning?
✨ Understanding the World exploring farms, food, nature, growth and different cultural traditions
✨ Communication & Language learning new vocabulary and talking about what we discover
✨ Physical Development developing coordination and control through practical activities

Super Star Sport NHB

🌟 WOW… what a busy week we have had! 🌟

We have been getting super active at Stewartby Pre-school as we have now started TWO Superstar Sports sessions each week with Coach Nick! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We have enjoyed one Multi-Sports session and one Football Skills session and Coach Nick has certainly been putting our listening and attention skills to the test! 👂⭐

There has been SO much fun and learning along the way, using beanbags, tennis balls, cones and footballs. We have been:
🥎 Throwing and catching
🦘 Jumping and hopping
👣 Taking big steps
⚽️ Kicking and shooting
🥅 Aiming our footballs into the net
👂 Listening carefully and following instructions
🏃‍♀️ Moving our bodies in lots of different ways

These sessions are fantastic for supporting the EYFS Physical Development area, helping children build gross motor skills, balance, coordination, spatial awareness and body control. They are also developing attention, listening, understanding, confidence and turn-taking, while learning how to follow simple instructions and persevere when something feels tricky.

Most importantly… we are having an absolute BALL! ⚽️😂💫

⚽️ Football Fridays are back! ⚽️

Coach Nick joined us today for another fun-filled football session! 🌟

We practised our little kicks, carefully moving our footballs around the grass while trying to avoid those BIG red cones! 🔴⚽️ We then listened carefully for Nick’s whistle and used our strongest big kicks towards the different coloured cones. 📣🥅

There was lots of running, kicking, stopping, listening and, most importantly, having FUN! 🤩

Through our football play we are developing gross motor skills, balance, coordination, spatial awareness and body control, while also practising listening, following instructions, concentration and responding to signals. We are learning to take turns, build confidence and enjoy being active together. 💪⚽️

What a fantastic start to our Football Fridays! ❤️

🎶🫧 MR PICCOLO’S FIRST SESSION OF THE YEAR! 🫧🎶

Well… what a way to start our musical journey! 💃🎵

On Monday we had a very exciting visit from Mr Piccolo, and the children were ready for some serious musical fun! 😍

We explored lots of new and exciting instruments, listened carefully to the different sounds and had a go at guessing which instrument was playing. 🎺🥁🎻 Some of us were brilliant at recognising the sounds and some of us just enjoyed making lots of noise! 😂🎶

There was singing, dancing, moving, listening, joining in and, of course… BUBBLES! 🫧🫧🫧 Catching, popping, chasing and trying to catch just one more!

And while it looked like we were simply having lots of fun, our little learners were busy developing so many important skills. ❤️

🎵 Communication & Language – listening, responding, learning new words and joining in with songs and rhymes.

🎶 Expressive Arts & Design – exploring sounds, rhythm, music and movement, and expressing ourselves creatively.

💃 Physical Development – dancing, moving, reaching, stretching and developing coordination as we caught those bubbles!

👂 Listening & Attention – concentrating carefully to identify different sounds and waiting for our turn.

🤝 Personal, Social & Emotional Development – building confidence, joining in as a group, sharing experiences and enjoying music together.

This is what we love about learning through play lots of laughter, lots of exploring and lots of learning happening without the children even realising it! 🥰

What a fabulous first session with Mr Piccolo! We cannot wait for our next musical adventure! 🎶🌟🫧

🎨✨ Colour Mixing Fun at Preschool! ✨🎨

Today we got creative with our paintbrushes and explored a wonderful world of colour! 💜💚💙🖤

We experimented with purple, green, blue and black, discovering what happens when we mix different colours together. We watched with curiosity as new shades appeared and talked about what we could see. 👀🎨

Our little artists also explored how to hold and use a paintbrush, the different shapes and marks we could make, and how the paint moved across our card. Some children made swirls, lines and patterns, while others created their own imaginative masterpieces! 🖌️🌀✨

There was lots of learning happening through our creativity:
🌈 Exploring colour recognition and colour mixing
🖌️ Developing fine motor skills and pencil/brush control
👀 Building observation and concentration skills
🗣️ Developing language as we talked about colours, shapes and what was happening
🎨 Encouraging creativity, imagination and self-expression
🤲 Strengthening hand and finger muscles ready for future writing skills

Most importantly… we had lots of fun getting messy and creative! 💜💚💙🖤
