This morning’s painting party was such a special one.

I hosted it for a lovely girl who has been coming to my weekly art classes for the past year, and it’s been amazing to watch her confidence grow so much through her art. When she asked if I could draw a cartoon version of her dog, Luna, I was more than happy to. I always like my birthday painting parties to feel personal, and this one was no exception.

I showed the group how to mix different shades and build up layers to create the different tones in Luna’s fur, and they absolutely nailed it. For 6 and 7 year olds, they did incredibly well. They listened, were very polite and they really embraced the process.💖

After a short break for birthday treats, they came back ready to make their paintings even more unique. Each child personalised their Luna piece by designing a different party hat, and that’s always one of my favourite parts — seeing how creative they get when they’re given the freedom to make it their own.

It was a morning full of colour, personality, and so much joy. All the girls can be very proud of themselves and have taken home fantastic finished paintings. 🎉☘️🎨💖

This week marked our final Summer art workshop, and we ended it on a high.

We created bold, colourful tie-dye T-shirts that turned out amazing. Every design was different, and that’s what made it so special. The energy in the room was brilliant, and it was great to see everyone experimenting with colour, pattern, and creativity.

We also spent time building new drawing skills. The focus was on developing techniques that helped us create these wonderful character drawings with more confidence and detail. It was fantastic to see those skills come together so clearly in each finished piece.

I'll be having a little break until our weekly art classes start back September 7th.

Looking forward to sharing more beautiful artwork then 🙂💖

Another lovely week of Summer workshops with an amazing bunch of young artists. This week the focus was on acrylic painting techniques and as you can see they all created masterpieces 🎨🧑‍🎨

Summer holidays are in full flow, and my first workshop of the summer was such a joy. 😄

I spent the day with a brilliant group of girls, who completely threw themselves into it. We started by designing their own tote bags and pencil cases, then brought them to life with fabric paints. I always love this part, because it gives everyone the chance to make something that feels personal, practical, and completely their own.

After lunch, we moved on to watercolour, and I showed them a few simple techniques to create summery scenes. Just a few easy methods can open up so much creativity, and it was lovely to see them build confidence as they experimented.
There was so much focus, imagination, and excitement from start to finish.

I'll share more photos with you all next week. Enjoy this beautiful sunshine in the meantime 🌞

Yesterday we had a seventh birthday celebration with a panda in a teacup, and a table full of eager artists 😁

The birthday girl asked me to draw a panda design for her and her friends to paint, so I sketched a cute panda tucked into a teacup for them all. I set out the paints and talked them through each step, and they couldn't wait to dive in. Between brush strokes and party food, each child personalized their cup. Every single teacup became its own little work of art with bright colors, unique patterns, and lots of personality. They all turned out fantastic.

It felt like the perfect way to celebrate turning seven: friends, cake, and a handmade keepsake to take home. 💖

Sunlight did the lesson this week. This week, while the sun shone, all my young artists experienced cyanotype printing for the first time, and they loved it.

We coated paper with the light-sensitive solution, then arranged a mix of natural leaves and flowers along with templates to overlay. The plants gave organic texture; the templates added bold shapes. Under the sun, chemistry and composition met. Exposure turned the paper that deep Prussian blue, and when we washed it, crisp white silhouettes appeared.

They learned how light, timing, and placement change every image. A tiny adjustment in overlap created surprising negative space. A softer petal edge became a ghostly halo. The results were immediate and honest: beautiful, unpredictable prints that felt like discoveries rather than finished products.

This process teaches observation, patience, and creative decision-making in one short workshop. It’s simple, tactile, and wildly satisfying—exactly the kind of hands-on experience young artists need.

I had an amazing group of girls in the studio this morning to celebrate their friend’s 7th birthday. They dove straight into painting axolotls as requested by the birthday girl 😁

They encouraged each other the whole time, laughing and chatting throughout. By the end every girl was beaming and proud of her finished paintings which I’m sure will be hung in their bedrooms as soon as they get home. 🎨

Thank you for choosing to celebrate your birthday with me. 💖

Finally—I can share these photos from my weekly art classes, and I’m so excited. Last week we had to cancel Thursdays class because of the heat wave 🥵 The studio was like an oven, the paint wouldn't set properly in that heat, and I didn’t want anyone feeling uncomfortable.

This week, though, magic. The groups came back and finished their Mod Roc, pop-art inspired ice-cream cones and cake slices. They added the extra layer of paint and all the fine details we couldn’t do the week before. The textures popped. The colours are bright, confident, and totally joyful. 😁

Everyone did so well. Each piece has personality—bold colours, playful shapes, and real summer vibes. ☀️

I think you can see from the photos how much fun they had. I’m so proud of these young artists for sticking with it. Can’t wait to share more of their creations next week 💖
