🚁🔥 From breaking news to busy skies!

Beccles Aerodrome became a vital hub as and used us as their refuelling base while covering the devastating wildfire at Dunwich. Our thoughts are with everyone affected and all the emergency services working tirelessly at the scene.

Adding to the action, we also welcomed a visiting JetRanger helicopter for a hot refuel before it continued its journey.

Days like these highlight the important role regional airfields play in supporting news crews, emergency operations and visiting aircraft alike.

✈️ A milestone that marks the beginning of an incredible aviation journey!

Huge congratulations to Will, aged just 16, on achieving his first solo flight towards his Private Pilot Licence (PPL(A)) at Virage Aviation, Beccles Aerodrome, on Saturday.

Taking to the skies alone for the very first time is a moment every pilot remembers forever—a true testament to Will’s hard work, dedication, skill, and determination.

Everyone at Virage Aviation is incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement and wishes Will every success as he continues his journey towards becoming a fully qualified pilot.

The fantastic weather over the last few days has brought plenty of aviation visitors to Beccles Aerodrome and Virage Aviation, making for some fantastic sights both on the ground and in the air.

Among the highlights, PC12 visited to pick up passengers to the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, while our own Diamond DA40 also made the journey.

Here are just a few of the great moments we’ve captured over the last few days. A huge thank you to everyone who visited, flew with us, or simply stopped by to enjoy the atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming many more aircraft and visitors throughout the summer!

🎉 Congratulations to Patrick! 🚁

Another major milestone achieved at Virage Aviation & Helicopter Academy!

Yesterday, Patrick successfully completed his Cross Country Qualifier, demonstrating the skill, confidence, and planning that every helicopter pilot needs before progressing to the next stage of training.
From mastering navigation to making sound decisions in the cockpit, this is a significant achievement on the journey to earning a helicopter licence.
A huge congratulations from all of us—it’s been fantastic watching your progress, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
The sky isn’t the limit… it’s just the beginning. 🚁

From Belgium to Beccles…

In just the last few days, Beccles Aerodrome has welcomed an incredible variety of visiting aircraft—including arrivals from Belgium, alongside a steady stream of helicopters dropping in for fuel before their next mission and pilots stopping off to enjoy a well-earned lunch.

It’s more than just an airfield—it’s a thriving aviation hub where every landing tells a different story.
At Virage Aviation, we’re proud to be at the heart of the action, watching aircraft and aviators from across the UK and Europe make Beccles part of their journey.

Today, Beccles Aerodrome welcomed a true aviation legend to our doorstep!
An ex-British Army Gazelle helicopter dropped in for a fuel stop, turning heads and attracting plenty of attention on the airfield. But it wasn’t just the aircraft that needed refuelling – the crew also took the opportunity to recharge before continuing their journey!
