Gillingham Early Years Early years foundation stage We are open Monday to Thursday 08.30 to 16.00 and Friday 09.00-13.00 and can provide a variety of sessions to suit your needs.

We run a holiday club when numbers allow. We operate fully inclusive practice and are nappy friendly. Between our dedicated members of staff we have over 100 years experience in child care and education. We pride ourselves on providing personalised care and education to every child that attends our setting, regardless of age or ability in a safe and happy environment.

The children enjoyed a “we’re going on a Bear Hunt” 🐻 yoga 🧘🏼‍♂️ session this week, with Molly who came in to visit us. 🤩
They made dinosaur 🦖 masks and designed their own dinosaurs 🦕 with little shapes of paper and junk modelling.
The children explored jelly and chia seeds in the tuff tray, used salty water 💧 to melt the ice 🧊 and free the dinosaurs!🦕 and experimented with a ‘volcano’ 🌋
There was lots of wonderful play, learning and working together in the mud kitchen when we introduced teabags ☕️ and herbs 🌿 to their play and a reception for the Dinosaur park into the home corner.
They absolutely loved digging out the pumpkins 🎃 and trying hard to cut them up.

We moved on to learning about dinosaurs 🦕 this week.
The children dug for bones 🦴 in the sand, explored dinosaur 🦖 foot prints, large and small with paint and playdoh , made pasta dinosaurs 🦖 and used their fine motor skills to print the outline of a dinosaur.
They enjoyed lots of play outside including ramps for bikes 🚲 explored lemons 🍋 and limes 🍋‍🟩 in the tuff tray and on Friday enjoyed a walk to the local park!!

The children enjoyed a visit from Happy Smiles Club this week. Where they learnt about oral health 🦷 with fun activities including cleaning the dinosaurs 🦖 teeth 🪥. We then turned the home corner into a dentists surgery.
They’ve enjoyed several colour 🌈 themed activities including experimenting with skittles and hot water 💧 making rainbow 🌈 pasta bracelets and a purple themed tuff tray. . They’ve enjoyed building with the large bricks 🧱 making a den ⛺️ playdoh, making ‘ice creams’ 🍦 and much, much more. A great week had by all with lots of learning through play.

Continuing with learning about colour 🌈 this week, the children have taken part in some really fun experiments 🔬 including painting 🎨 bread 🍞, painting their hands 🙌🏼 and then mixing them with a friend to see what colour they can make, making rainbow 🌈 biscuits 🍪 and going on a colour hunt 🔍 outside!
They have explored various tuff trays, enjoyed the paw 🐾 patrol toys and loved using spray bottles 💦 to put out the ‘fires’🔥 . The outdoor Jenga bricks 🧱 have been a big hit too, the children have used them in a variety of ways to enhance their play!!🤩

A lovely week experimenting with colour 🌈. The children have explored coloured salt 🧂, coloured water 💦 and shaving foam with paint 🎨 in the tuff tray. They also made their own rainbows 🌈 using pieces of cut up paper and enjoyed painting a large picture as a group.
They are particularly enjoying small world farm 🐮 🐷 and train 🚂 play at the moment, lovely to see the interaction, conversation and play this brings. They’re also enjoying some new resources as well as, as usual a good obstacle course and sand and mud play.

Today is always a strange one! A celebration 🎉 and a little sad 😔 as we say goodbye to the children who are going on to primary school!🏫
We had a party 🎈 this morning with a bouncy castle which the children enjoyed immensely and then a little presentation for the leavers, who we wish all the best at ‘big’ school!!
Thanku so much for all our wonderful gifts 🎁 we really do appreciate it. 🥰

This week the children made their own passports and “flew” ✈️ to a tropical 🌴 island where they tried mango 🥭, coconut 🥥 and coconut water!!
They enjoyed being “doctors” 🧑‍⚕️ in the garden as well as painting 🎨 with ice 🧊, bathing the babies 👶 and games 🎲 under the shade of the tree 🌳
The children have enjoyed playing lots of board games this week including sound lotto and they loved playing Kim’s game.
They explored printing with paint 🎨 using various markers on tinfoil and have really made use of the puppet theatre 🎭 again.

Lots of learning about colour this week 🌈. The children took part in a very fun colour mixing activity with their hands 🖐🏽 which they loved. They took part in a colour hunt and squished colours to mix them.
Lots of water 🚿 play to keep cool including making ‘real’ tea ☕️
Becky made a Punch and Judy theatre which the children really enjoyed using with our puppets. They watched a Punch and Judy show and then did their own show! Lots of excellent creativity going on! 🤩
The children pulled up the potatoes 🥔 they’d grown, washed them, cut them up, we boiled them and then they ate them! Very tasty 😋
The children all enjoy building with various construction 🦺 and it’s great to see all the critical thinking 🤔 going on.
Can’t believe we only have 2 weeks left until the summer holidays!! 🌞
