Welcome Back to School – September 2026

We hope that you and your families have had a restful and enjoyable summer break.

As we prepare to welcome our students back to Sir John Leman High School and Sixth Form, we are looking forward to seeing everyone again and beginning what promises to be an exciting and successful academic year.

Please take note of the following arrangements for the start of term:

Thursday 3 September 2026: Year 12 enrolment and Year 7 students only will be in school.

Friday 4 September 2026: Year 7, Year 11 and Year 13 students will be in school.

Monday 7 September 2026: All students will be in school.

Uniform and Equipment
As we look ahead to the new term, we look forward to welcoming students back in full school uniform and ready for learning. Please refer to our website https://www.sirjohnleman.co.uk/Parents/School-Uniform-Policy/ for details of uniform expectations and the equipment students will need for the year ahead.

Ashmans Road Closure
Cadent Gas has been in touch with the school regarding planned works that will result in the closure of the bottom end of Ashmans Road, at the junction with London Road, from 1 September to 22 September 2026.

Parents and carers are asked to be aware that there will be no access to the school via Ashmans Road during this period. Traffic will be diverted via Ringsfield Road, and we anticipate that this may result in some additional congestion around the school and surrounding roads.

We will do our best to support with any congestion and appreciate your patience and understanding while these works are taking place. We would encourage families to allow a little extra time for journeys to and from school during this period.

We aim for our uniform to be smart, safe and practical. It should be appropriate for a range of activities during the school day.

🎉 Celebrating our strongest GCSE results since 2022!

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and delighted to see improvements across key measures. These results reflect the hard work, resilience and determination of our students, as well as the dedication of our fantastic staff and the support of parents and carers.

👏 A huge congratulations to every student! You should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved!

We’re delighted that many of our students will continue with us at Sir John Leman Sixth Form , while we wish everyone moving on to colleges, apprenticeships and other opportunities every success for the future.

Results Days 2026 - We look forward to seeing you!

A Level: Thursday 13th August
Online - Published at 8:00am
In Person - From 9:00-11:00am

GCSE: Thursday 20th August
Online - Published at 9:00am
In Person - From 9:00-11:00am

Results will be available you in 2 ways:

1) Online - via the Bromcom student app

2) In Person - you can come into school and collect your results from the Main Hall. There will be members of staff available to answer any questions that you may have.

CERTIFICATES:

Your certificates will be issued at a later date - exam boards
generally send these to the school around November.

We will contact you once all the certificates have been received and
checked by the exams team.

Students will be required to come and collect them (or nominate someone to collect them on their behalf). Certificates will not be posted out.

🌟 Celebrating Going the Extra Mile! 🌟
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a special SJL Fun Day for students who have consistently gone the extra mile and shown outstanding commitment to their educational journey.
The day was a well-deserved celebration of their hard work, positive attitude and dedication throughout the year. A huge thank you to our incredible staff who took the time to organise such a fantastic event and make it so memorable for everyone involved.
As you can see from the video below, there were plenty of smiles, laughter and fun had by all!

This morning, we were proud to officially open our new Wellbeing Courtyard in memory of Nischay Patel.

Today marks one year since the tragic passing of Nischay. As a school community, we wanted to create a peaceful space where students and staff can reflect, connect, and support their wellbeing. We hope this special courtyard will be enjoyed for many years to come and serve as a lasting tribute to Nischay's memory.

We are incredibly proud of and grateful to our students and staff, whose hard work, dedication, and care have transformed this courtyard into such a beautiful and meaningful place.

A special thank you goes to Brewers of Lowestoft for their generous donation of masonry paint to support this project. Your kindness has helped make this vision a reality.

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in creating this lasting legacy for our school community.
