The wind still showed its face a few times through July this year, and this was one of those days!

With things looking a little lively along the more exposed Hampshire coastline, we switched plans and spent the day exploring the shelter of the local tidal estuary instead.

Plenty of time to play with boat handling, build confidence on the water and work through a few rescue skills along the way. 👌

It’s been a little quiet on here… August got a bit full-on. 😅

Between paddling days, coaching, trips, courses and a few Liquid Media - Films & Photography projects going on behind the scenes, social media slipped a little way down the list.

We’ve got a pretty hefty backlog of photos from some brilliant days on the water though, so normal service is resuming and we’ll start sharing what we’ve been up to over the next week or two.

A bit of a different one on Saturday!

After weeks of pretty calm water, Kimmeridge decided to wake up a little. We launched early with a small swell running, spent the morning weaving in and out of the rocks, and watched the sea slowly build as the day went on.

The forecast was showing things getting pretty lively later in the afternoon, so we were off the water before the biggest sets rolled through. Perfect timing, a fun day, and another brilliant group to take exploring.

A few weekends ago a crew of eight spent two days paddling the beautiful River Wye, making our way from Hoarwithy to Symonds Yat with an overnight stop in Ross-on-Wye.

With the river running incredibly low, there were plenty of technical line choices to make along the way. It definitely kept us on our toes, but with a bit of planning (and a few well-timed encouragements!) we managed to paddle the entire route without anyone getting stuck or having to wade through the shallows. I'd call that a win!

The Wye didn't disappoint on the wildlife front either. We were lucky enough to spot countless kingfishers, peregrine falcons, red kites and plenty of buzzards as we drifted through one of the UK's most beautiful river valleys.

Two days of canoeing, camping, campfire chats and good company... it's hard to beat.

A private two-day adventure with a brilliant crew! 🤙

We kicked things off exploring the Hampshire coast, where we had that amazing seal encounter from my last post...

Then it was an early start on the Jurassic Coast, making the most of the calm conditions before the beaches filled up.

In all my years of paddling, this has only happened twice!

I'd like to think it was me it was interested in... But I think it just wanted a closer look at the Volan. 😎

Jokes aside, wildlife encounters like this are incredibly rare, and it's so cool we get opportunities like this whilst out on the water. This curious seal climbed aboard 3 or 4 times before we paddled off and it gave us a friendly es**rt for the next km!

We were joined by a local CCF unit for a day on the water, introducing them to the world of canoeing!

The day was packed with learning new strokes, building confidence and plenty of smiles, before putting it all into practice with an epic game of canoe polo. We wrapped things up with some rescue practice and, given the heat, a well-earned cooling dip in the river! ☀️💦

More summer fun on the Jurassic Coast, throwing it back a couple of weeks to one of our favourite playgrounds! 🌊

We had a mix of private coaching alongside a small guided group heading out to explore, which meant a good little Liquid crew out on the water making the most of the day!

Plenty of time spent weaving in and out of the rocks, playing around in the gaps and generally having a lot of fun along the way! 😎
