A bit of a different one on Saturday!

After weeks of pretty calm water, Kimmeridge decided to wake up a little. We launched early with a small swell running, spent the morning weaving in and out of the rocks, and watched the sea slowly build as the day went on.

The forecast was showing things getting pretty lively later in the afternoon, so we were off the water before the biggest sets rolled through. Perfect timing, a fun day, and another brilliant group to take exploring.

A few weekends ago a crew of eight spent two days paddling the beautiful River Wye, making our way from Hoarwithy to Symonds Yat with an overnight stop in Ross-on-Wye.

With the river running incredibly low, there were plenty of technical line choices to make along the way. It definitely kept us on our toes, but with a bit of planning (and a few well-timed encouragements!) we managed to paddle the entire route without anyone getting stuck or having to wade through the shallows. I'd call that a win!

The Wye didn't disappoint on the wildlife front either. We were lucky enough to spot countless kingfishers, peregrine falcons, red kites and plenty of buzzards as we drifted through one of the UK's most beautiful river valleys.

Two days of canoeing, camping, campfire chats and good company... it's hard to beat.

Then it was an early start on the Jurassic Coast, making the most of the calm conditions before the beaches filled up.

In all my years of paddling, this has only happened twice!

I'd like to think it was me it was interested in... But I think it just wanted a closer look at the Volan. 😎

Jokes aside, wildlife encounters like this are incredibly rare, and it's so cool we get opportunities like this whilst out on the water. This curious seal climbed aboard 3 or 4 times before we paddled off and it gave us a friendly es**rt for the next km!

We were joined by a local CCF unit for a day on the water, introducing them to the world of canoeing!

The day was packed with learning new strokes, building confidence and plenty of smiles, before putting it all into practice with an epic game of canoe polo. We wrapped things up with some rescue practice and, given the heat, a well-earned cooling dip in the river! ☀️💦

More summer fun on the Jurassic Coast, throwing it back a couple of weeks to one of our favourite playgrounds! 🌊

We had a mix of private coaching alongside a small guided group heading out to explore, which meant a good little Liquid crew out on the water making the most of the day!

Plenty of time spent weaving in and out of the rocks, playing around in the gaps and generally having a lot of fun along the way! 😎

Not a bad way to cool off after this week's heat! 🌅

Last night I took a great group out onto the river for a relaxed paddle, plenty of laughs and a proper switch off after a busy week. Good company, calm water and a cracking sunset... can't ask for much more than that!! 🤙

Last weekend we were joined by Edge Progressive Paddling for a sea kayaking skills and exploration weekend on the Jurassic Coast.

Day one saw us based around Old Harry Rocks, working on boat handling, confidence and making the most of the area's incredible caves, arches and coastline. Day two moved across to Kimmeridge Bay, where the firing ranges changed our original plans, but still delivered some fantastic paddling, plenty of smiles and a few curious seals along the way.

To round the weekend off, we even had a low-level flypast from the Royal Marines heading out to investigate that Russian tanker making the headlines. Not your average coaching weekend!
