Davenies Davenies is an independent prep school for boys age 4-13 in Beaconsfield, Bucks Davenies is a day preparatory school for boys between the ages of 4 and 13.

Whilst the school offers a thorough education which stretches each child, we endeavour also to offer a broad education so that the boys experience many opportunities in and outside the classroom. There is a range of academic ability in the school, but we want each boy to discover what he enjoys and where he has talent whilst developing the determination and confidence to tackle the areas where he may be less adept. Davenies is a very friendly school run on Christian principles which welcomes children from all faiths or none. It emphasises manners, courtesy and good behaviour. Ultimately our aim is to lay the foundations for life, as well as to prepare the boys for the challenges of their next schools.

Another successful end to the term!

Our boys took part in a range of activities on and off site. Not only a fun way to end a half term, and reward their hard work, but also an opportunity to consolidate their learning into real life settings, reinforcing classroom work.

We are lucky here at Davenies to have our very own Cubs pack, led by the incredible Ann Tennant. A true pillar of the community, she leads the pack with an abundance of dedication and enthusiasm.

This week her Cubs have been building fires and under the trees at the end of the session, Akela held the special Investiture Ceremony where the new Cubs were welcomed into the pack 🐾

🐝Already this year, our boys have mastered new skills, tried new things (sometimes out of their comfort zone), helped others, made new friendships and had a lot of fun along the way!

Huge congratulations to Callum and Deo, who left Davenies at the end of Year 8 last year and are now Captains of their respective A Teams– Callum at Shiplake College and Deo at Merchant Taylors’ School.

The boys came head to head on the pitch for a hard-fought and competitive fixture, while maintaining the strong friendship they built at Davenies.

Bringing learning to life for Year 7 🐝

Our boys recreated the Battle of Bosworth. Each boy was given a role card detailing their part in the battle, along with a secret mission to complete during the re-enactment.

Could they alter history, or was Richard III always destined to lose?

The boys will analyse the video of their re-enactment during their next lesson to see how accurate it was.

Years 7 & 8 at Davenies sees boys develop their intellectual maturity and take greater responsibility for their learning. The curriculum is broad and challenging, providing excellent preparation for the GCSE years that the boys will encounter when they move on to their next schools.

Alongside a rich academic curriculum, boys benefit from the Davenies Award Scheme (DAS), developing skills through endeavour projects, entrepreneurship, debating, life skills, charitable initiatives and a wide range of cultural, creative and active experiences.

Our aim is to equip boys with the knowledge, confidence and independence to thrive at their next school. Added benefits include preparation for the entrance tests, Common Entrance and scholarship opportunities appropriate to their chosen senior school.

A ROAR-some day for Year 2!

To enhance their classroom learning about dinosaurs, our boys visited and explored the parks new attraction, World of Dinosaurs.

They also enjoyed exploring everything else the zoo had to offer, meeting the animals and discovering interesting facts along the way.
