This afternoon, our Year 10 and 11 rugby team travel to Brighton Hill School in Basingstoke for what promises to be a fantastic match. It's the first time The Hurst has fielded a rugby team for a match against other schools for seven years, making this a special occasion.

Kick-off is at 4:00pm, and parents and carers are very welcome to come along and support the boys from the sidelines.

Good luck to the team - play hard, enjoy the occasion, and make us proud!

Thank you to all the prospective families who joined us at The Hurst School's Open Evening last night! The atmosphere was fantastic, we received lots of wonderful feedback, and we enjoyed showing you around.

Our students are the heart of our school and our very best ambassadors. We are incredibly proud that more than 230 students have volunteered their time to support tonight’s Open Evening, sharing their experiences and giving prospective students and their families a genuine insight into life at The Hurst.
From leading tours to helping in departments and answering questions about school life, their enthusiasm, pride and sense of community perfectly reflect what makes The Hurst a special place.
Thank you to our students for volunteering, and to parents/carers for doing the drop off and collections this evening.

What a way to kick off our Year 7 House competitions!

The first competitive House event of the year saw tutor groups go head-to-head in a fantastic Tug of War competition on the 3G pitch this lunchtime. There was plenty of cheering and encouragement, as students gave it their all in a brilliant display of House spirit and teamwork.
A huge well done to 7W, who pulled their way to victory and were crowned this year's champions!

It’s been a busy and successful start to the week! This morning, our photographers captured more than 400 individual photographs of our year 7 and year 10 students, alongside photos of them in their tutor groups.

Students will be bringing home a slip of paper today with details on how to order their individual photographs. Codes for ordering tutor group photos will be sent out later this week.

A quick reminder that our Open Evening takes place this Thursday. School will finish at 12.35pm on Thursday, followed by an INSET Day on Friday.

If your child is helping with Open Evening, please remember to scan the QR code on the letter they brought home to confirm your permission for them to attend.

Finally, good luck to our Year 7 and Year 8 netball teams, who are in action this week. We look forward to hearing how you get on.

An update on the netball match:

Yesterday, The Hurst School's Year 11 netball team took on Millfield School in a fast-paced and highly competitive match.

Although the final score was 41-20 in favour of Millfield, the girls can be incredibly proud of their performance. The ball moved relentlessly from one end of the court to the other, making for an intense and energetic game that demanded concentration, determination, and teamwork throughout.

The girls rose to the challenge, working hard for every possession and continuing to battle right until the final whistle. Despite facing a strong opposition, they never gave up and showed great resilience, commitment, and sportsmanship.

Well done to the entire team for their effort, attitude, and determination.

Our Year 7 students are enjoying their Belonging Walk today, a great chance to strengthen existing friendships, create new ones, and enjoy spending time in the fresh air. We hope they have a great time.

Also a quick reminder for Year 8 parents/carers that the Information Evening takes place this Thursday between 6pm and 7pm in the school hall.
