I have also set up this page, and the BAFPA & Battle Abbey School Community LinkedIn group. Do get in contact with me if you'd like to visit Battle Abbey School or organise a reunion, and I'd be delighted to help.

There is lots of news about the Bayeux Tapestry and the Battle of Hastings at the moment, so I thought it would be good to remind our former pupils that you are always welcome to come and visit!

As the Founder and first Headmistress wrote in 1928 - "To all who have loved their school, to them does it belong for ever. You are still links in a precious chain whose strength and work are drawing us slowly but ever surely, up and always up away from the commonplace, nearer the ideal. You wear our badge and all you do does matter to us. In the hurly-burly of everyday life these things are not said - they appear to be forgotten - they are not.
The gateway is ever open to you, you are ever welcome in our hearts and in our home."

Founders' Day is on Saturday 3rd October starting at 2.30pm, do come and join us if you can! 😊

The Angela Bonallack Memorial Trophy - This annual competition is held at Cooden Beach Golf Club in memory of former Battle Abbey School student Lady Angela Bonallack (nee Ward). Angela was allowed to practice her golf instead of playing games whilst at BA before going on to be one of this country’s most famous amateur golfers representing her country in six consecutive Curtis Cup teams.

This was the fourth playing for the beautiful glass vase trophy and we welcomed four current students and their “gappie” together with a staff member to play alongside the five regular players.

Cooden Beach Golf Club were exceedingly welcome and the course was in great condition. Although there was a strong south westerly breeze it was very pleasant to play in warm but certainly not sweltering weather.

Eight players competed for the trophy playing 18 holes, with three playing 9.

Next year's Tees are reserved for Monday July 5th 2027, so put the date in your diaries now!!

Reaching out to former MFL 6th Formers!!
For our Key Stage Assemblies in the autumn, we would like to feature short videos from our alumni MFL 6th Formers saying how they are using their languages in their personal and/or professional lives.

It would be great if we can help our current students visualise where languages can take them, whether it’s travelling, international careers, or simply connecting with people globally.

If this is you, please get in touch!! Send a DM or email: [email protected]

Both professional advice and funny anecdotes equally welcome!

I am pleased to report that Battle Abbey competed again in the Silver Tassie alumnae golf tournament this year. It was held as usual at the wonderful Berkshire Golf Club on Monday 1 June.

The 4 players were (photo attached) Pauline Senior (Shippam) 1961-1967, Lindy Riesco (Allison) 1962-1965, Jennifer Ellis (Norman) 1955-1962 and Diana Caulfeild-Stoker 1962-1967. The team thoroughly enjoyed the course, golf and hospitality.

25 independent schools entered the competition and it was won by West Heath. Charterhouse entered a team for the first time.

The BA golfers will be competing again at Cooden Beach in the Angela Bonallack Memorial Trophy on Monday 29 June with some of Angela's family and pupils from the school. A game is also being arranged at Chobham later in the year.

We would be delighted to hear from any golfers who would like to play in the Siver Tassie or any future golfing day or competition. Please contact: [email protected]

How about an alumni team or two?! Come back and visit the Abbey & catch up with old friends and teachers. Only 6 people needed per team. This event is being run 100% by current pupils for a local charity, so it would be great to support their efforts.
