☀️🎉 That's a Wrap for Another Wonderful School Year! 🎉☀️

As we reach the end of another fantastic year at Sedlescombe CE Primary School, we would like to say a huge thank you to our pupils, families, staff, governors, volunteers and wider community for all of your support.

This year has been filled with so many memorable moments – from trips to sporting events, performances, outdoor learning, competitions and special celebrations. We are incredibly proud of all that our children have achieved and the enthusiasm, kindness and resilience they have shown throughout the year. 🌟

We hope all of our families have a happy, safe and relaxing summer break filled with fun, laughter and special memories.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year of learning and adventure!

When one chapter ends, another begins... 💙

Today, we said goodbye to our incredible Year 6s.

We started the day with a special Leavers’ Service attended by parents and families, where we celebrated the children’s many achievements. Value Awards and trophies were presented, making it a truly memorable occasion for everyone.
There was hardly a dry eye in the house as we then gathered for an emotional farewell.

Then whole school came together to watch our Year 6 children make their final journey through Sedlescombe, walking beneath a Guard of Honour created by staff with colourful ribbon batons and metre sticks before heading into the arms of their families.

We then enjoyed a wonderful whole-school picnic together, which was the perfect way to end the year.

To our amazing Class of 2026 – thank you for the memories, the laughter, the determination, and the joy you have brought to our school. We are so proud of each and every one of you and know that incredible adventures await. You will always be a part of the Sedlescombe family, and we will never forget you. ✨

On behalf of Mrs Harvey and the entire Sedlescombe team, we wish all of our families—especially those whose journey with us comes to an end this year—a wonderful summer filled with happiness, relaxation, and special memories.

💚🧅 Year 6's Shrek Adventure! 🧅💚

Yesterday, Year 6 had an ogre-tastic day at The Shrek Adventure! London! From the exciting 4D flying bus ride to meeting familiar characters from Far Far Away, the children threw themselves into every part of the experience. ✨

The trip was packed with fun, laughter and adventure, and the children were a credit to the school throughout the day. We hope they enjoyed making some wonderful memories on their final school trip together! 💚

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 performed brilliantly, showcasing not only their wonderful singing but also some fantastic signing and amazing drumming too! 🌟

A huge thank you to Corin, our inspirational music teacher, who brings so much energy, enthusiasm and creativity to every lesson. The children are always delighted to see him on a Friday afternoon and thoroughly enjoy their music sessions. 😊

We are so proud of the children and can't wait to see them continue developing their musical talents next year as they learn even more songs, rhythms and signing actions. 🎵💙

🌆🎨 Year 4 London Adventure! 🚆⛴️

Last term, Year 4 learnt all about three capital cities in their geography lessons — London, Paris and Washington DC — and what better way to bring that learning to life than with a trip to London itself!

The children enjoyed a fantastic day exploring our capital city, beginning with a train journey from Battle to London. They took part in a fascinating guided workshop at The National Gallery, discovering the hidden meanings and secret symbols within famous works of art. 🖼️✨

The visit linked perfectly with their art learning too. Having been studying still life, the children were able to observe real masterpieces up close, exploring how artists use objects, composition and symbolism to tell stories and express ideas. 🎨👀

The adventure continued with a scenic river cruise along the Thames, where the children spotted many of London's most famous landmarks from the water. ⛴️🏛️ From historic buildings to iconic bridges, the trip provided an exciting opportunity to develop their geography and history knowledge while experiencing the sights and sounds of the city firsthand.

A wonderful day of learning, exploration and unforgettable memories! ⭐

📚✨ A Wonderful Bookfest Celebration! ✨📚

What a fantastic termly Bookfest we had at Sedlescombe! The children were so excited to browse the amazing selection of books, sharing recommendations with friends and discovering lots of new titles to enjoy. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading across the school. 📖💚

We were also delighted to offer a selection of books and resources outside the front of the school for families to choose from. It was lovely to see so many books finding new homes and giving more children the opportunity to enjoy reading over the summer.

Thank you for helping us nurture a love of reading in our children – happy reading everyone! 📚🌟

Year 2 had an absolutely amazing day at Go Ape, and we couldn’t be prouder of them!🐒🌳

One of the best things about this trip is the opportunity it gives children to develop their resilience, determination and perseverance. Whilst some children felt quite nervous at first (and there were even a few tears), they showed incredible bravery and gave it a go anyway.

The sense of achievement on their faces was wonderful to see as they climbed, balanced and swung their way around the course. Many children went on to complete both courses and were so proud of themselves for overcoming their fears and tackling the challenge.

They were a credit to the school throughout the day, encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s successes. Well done, Year 2 – what a fantastic adventure! 🎉👏💚

🌿🍃 Year 1 Natural World Learning Day 🍃🌿

Year 1 had a wonderful Natural World Learning Day and enjoyed a super morning in the woods! 🌳🔍

The children kept very busy taking part in scavenger hunts using magnifying glasses, searching for hidden woodland animals, becoming sound detectives and enjoying a lovely mindfulness session with Mrs Sinden. They spent time sitting and lying quietly on the forest floor, focusing on what they could see, hear and feel around them—a truly peaceful experience. 💚

We were also incredibly proud of the children for helping to care for our local environment by collecting half a bag of litter on our walk to and from the woods. Well done, Year 1! 🌍♻️

After all their hard work, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved ice lolly back at school. 🍦☀️

🌞🏕️ Year 6 PGL Residential Adventure! 🏕️🌞

Our Year 6 children had an absolutely fantastic time on their residential trip to PGL!

Over the three days, they enjoyed an exciting range of activities including Jacob’s Ladder, Problem Solving Games, the Sensory Trail, Zipwire, Climbing, Orienteering, Rifle Shooting and the Giant Swing. Blessed with beautiful sunshine throughout, the children embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination.

We were incredibly proud of how they threw themselves into each activity, stepped out of their comfort zones and showed such resilience when faced with new challenges. They also supported and encouraged each other brilliantly, demonstrating fantastic teamwork and friendship throughout the trip.

The residential was filled with laughter, adventure and unforgettable memories, and it was wonderful to see the children grow in confidence whilst having so much fun.

Well done, Year 6 🌟💙
