🗺️🌿 Year 2 Natural World Learning Day! 🌿🗺️

Last week, Year 2 enjoyed their very first Natural World Learning Day, and what a fantastic day it was! 😊

The children took a walk through the village, developing their geography fieldwork skills as they explored their local area. They created line maps of the village and added their own illustrations to bring them to life. 🏡✏️

Back at school, they built on these skills by creating bird's-eye view maps of their classroom, the playground and even a room in their own homes. It was wonderful to see the children thinking like geographers and developing their mapping skills in such a creative way! 🌍🧭

What a fantastic first Natural World Learning Day for Year 6!🔥🌿

Inspired by the survivor in the class story, the children put their survival skills to the test as they headed to the woods for a day of outdoor learning and adventure.

Working in teams, they took on the challenge of building a stretcher using natural materials and their own ingenuity. We were so impressed by their creativity, teamwork and resilience. By the end of the session, every group had successfully created a stretcher capable of supporting a person's weight! 👏🌲

In the afternoon, the children took part in a fire-making workshop where they demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout and showed real determination, patience and maturity as they worked hard to get their fires started. 🔥

It was wonderful to see the children stepping outside their comfort zones, problem-solving together and embracing every challenge with such enthusiasm.

What a fantastic day the children had at our PTA-organised Break the Rules Day!

From wacky hairstyles and bold colours to eye-catching accessories and creative fancy dress outfits, the school was full of smiles, laughter and harmless mischief from start to finish. 🤪🎨✨

Events like these are always a huge hit with the children, and the funds raised make a real difference to our school, helping to provide additional opportunities and experiences for all our pupils.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA for organising this fun-filled day, and to all our families for your continued support. We truly couldn't do it without you! 💙

🌿🌧️ Year 3 Natural World Learning Day 🌧️🌿

Year 3 had a fantastic Natural World Learning Day on Thursday! Despite a very wet start, the children showed great enthusiasm and didn't let the rain dampen their spirits.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who joined us and got absolutely soaking wet alongside the children. Your support is always greatly appreciated!

Thankfully, the weather brightened up in the afternoon, allowing them to make the most of our beautiful school grounds. The children enjoyed creating artwork using natural materials they collected and worked brilliantly together to build shelters, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

It was a wonderful day of outdoor learning, exploration and fun. Well done, Year 3, for your fantastic attitude and resilience throughout the day! 🌳🍂🪵💚

Our Reception children have completed their first full week at school, and we couldn't be prouder!

The children have adapted brilliantly to their new routines and it has been wonderful getting to know them all a little better. They have shown fantastic enthusiasm in the classroom, eagerly exploring different areas of learning and confidently trying new experiences.

This week, they enjoyed reading Funnybones and used the story to help them learn about their bodies. The children had great fun creating skeleton pictures at the art table and making funny faces in the playdough kitchen!

Our water area continues to be a firm favourite, and we have also been amazed by the creativity shown in our construction zone, where the children have been busy building impressive models and exciting obstacle courses.

What a fantastic start to school life! Well done, Reception, for such a successful first full week. We can't wait to see what adventures next week brings! ⭐📚🎨🦴💧🏗️

🌳🗺️ Year 1's Woodland Adventure! 🗺️🌳

Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic Natural Learning Day in the woods! They put their map-reading skills to the test by following routes on Ordnance Survey maps and learning about the different symbols we could spot.

Once they arrived in the woodland, they had lots of fun exploring the den area and taking in our beautiful surroundings. 🌿🍂

In the afternoon, they got creative by making their own maps using natural resources and large bricks. It was wonderful to see so much teamwork, imagination and enthusiasm throughout the day.

Everyone had a brilliant time, and they're already looking forward to the next woodland adventure when they venture even further into the woods! 🌲✨

🏝️🌿 Year 5's Natural World Day Castaway Challenge! 🌿🏝️

What an incredible day Year 5 had during their Natural World Day! Our children were "shipwrecked" and challenged to work together to survive on a deserted island, taking part in a series of exciting activities linked to our school values.

Using natural materials, the children designed and built shelters, tackled teamwork and problem-solving challenges, showed courage when facing tricky tasks, explored the importance of honesty in making decisions, and learned about forgiveness when things didn't quite go to plan.

It was wonderful to see everyone supporting one another, sharing ideas, persevering through challenges and celebrating each other's successes along the way. 💚

Throughout the day, Year 5 demonstrated fantastic collaboration, creativity and resilience, truly bringing our school values to life in a meaningful and memorable way. We ended the day by reflecting on what we are thankful for and recognising the many ways our classmates had helped us during the challenge.

The children made the day incredibly special, and it was one of those moments that reminded us just how lucky we are to work with such thoughtful, enthusiastic and supportive young people. ⭐️

We are so proud of our previous Year 1 children, whose beautiful fish creations took pride of place at the Friends of Lossie Long Fish & Chips Lunch during the Summer break 🐟💙

The hall was transformed into a wonderful "sea" of colourful fish, and guests were full of praise for the children's creativity and hard work. Many commented on how beautiful the fish looked, and were especially touched by the thoughtful messages written on the back. ✨

The organisers were incredibly grateful for all the effort that went into this special project, and each guest was delighted to take a fish home as a keepsake. 🐟❤️

What a lovely way to spread kindness and bring smiles to so many people in our community. Well done, Year 1. You should be very proud of yourselves for bringing so much happiness to others! 🌟👏
